I love being in radio. I love music. And, I love meeting and talking with people. I'm an incredibly outgoing person, and I am involved in my community. I am an advocate of Blues preservation, music and art in schools, and other causes.
Music
I started listening to the Blues probably high school. i had been exposed to it off and on from an early age, from a couple of my aunts. They were really into Stevie Ray Vaughan, so that guitar driven Texas Blues was my first taste of madness, and I really dug it.
After that, I started to explore. Where does this artist draw his influence? And so on, tracing the music back, and just getting my hands on anything I could find. I've always been a music addict and collector, so my collection grows continuously each time someone turns me on to another artist or band, as well as when I find one myself.
About the same time I was REALLY getting into the Blues and establishing a catalogue, I was deciding what I wanted to do in college and for the rest of my life. It just so happened that radio was that choice. I received two degrees in Broadcasting/Telecommunications, and always fostered the idea in the back of my brain that a Blues show was what I really wanted to do.
Fast forward several years and several jobs later, and I am working in radio, with an opportunity that arises to do some volunteer work on the side at the University of Evansville radio station, WUEV. WUEV and it's staff are wonderful, and they play Blues every Saturday from Noon-6:00 PM (Seems like a natural fit, huh? I thought so, too.)
On June 7, 2008, Full-Time Blues aired it's first episode. (The same day the 2008 edition of the W.C. Handy Blues & Barbecue Festival got underway in nearby Henderson, KY.) I call it Evansville's best kept secret in radio, but that's not a voluntary moniker. I want the world to know we're here...which is why I'm on MySpace!
I truly listen to most every genre, but as I get older, the Blues dominates my ears more and more. Some of my favorites currently are Buddy Guy, B.B.King, Watermelon Slim, The Beat Daddys, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Son House, Albert King, and more. Make sure to visit all of our friend's pages for more great Blues music.
