About me: I always find it difficult to describe exactly who and what I am. I definitively studied a lot in my life, and I became a scholar and a professional, well trained in philosophy and in legal theory, and a translator of philosophy works from English into Italian (occasionally, from Spanish). But I’m also an entrepreneur who is always ready to follow his ideals to the point of starting new and difficult projects whenever I feel like they can help making our world a better place. I like adventures! And I dream a lot! Some dreams might come true (not without lot of work!), some can only be written down and enjoyed for what they are… wonderful dreams. This is why I recently freed my imagination and my literary skills, and followed one of the dreams of my youth… Yes, I started to work on a Sci.Fi./Fantasy novel; actually, en entire saga: the Black Eagle saga. So, for those of you who just want to know more about my professional achievements, below (for what is worth!) is a more detailed story of it. But this MySpace is mostly for my novel and for all the people in the adventure/dream/movie/literary/music world it relates to. So, here I come… eager to share my dreams with you!
And here, as promised, comes also the boring professional bio:
I graduated Summa cum Laude in Law from the University of Milan in 1994. The graduation committee, on behalf of the University, awarded me, as a special distinction, the publication of my dissertation Natural Law Theory in the Thought of J. M. Finnis. After my Law degree, I practiced law in Palermo and I’ve been working since then as a part-time consultant at an Italian Law Firm. I received a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Law from the University of Palermo in 1998. In 1999 I did a post-doctoral research at the Internationale Akademie fuer Philosophie in the Principality of Liechtenstein. In the beginning of 2000 the Italian National Council of Research (CNR) conferred on me a fellowship to do research abroad on natural law theory. From 2000 to 2003, I was Visiting Scholar and Research Associate at the Jacques Maritain Center, University of Notre Dame. Between 2004 and 2006 I went back several times to the University of Notre Dame as Visiting Professor. I have taught courses in philosophy and in legal theory also at the LUMSA Law School (Palermo), at the University of Palermo, and at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome.
Since 2004, I have been Director of the Centro Ricerche Tommaso d’Aquino of the Collegio universitario ARCES. At the end of 2004, the European Union awarded me more than $300,000 to work on STEP – the “St. Thomas Education Project: Rediscovering the Roots of European Culture” and several other institutions welcomed this project with other grants and sponsorships. Beginning in 2005, together with Christopher Wolfe, I initiated the Thomas International Project, and became the Co-Director of the R. McInerny Center for Thomistic Studies, based in Washington, D.C. In the following years, I received grants from Italian institutions in support of the Thomas International project for more than $1.000,000. My scholarly work includes translations into Italian of books by John Finnis, Ralph McInerny, and Yves Simon. I have extensively published—both in English and in Italian—on philosophical and legal issues. I have been Scientific Coordinator of various distinguished international conferences and have given papers in leading universities both in Europe and the USA.
