| General | I am a renaissance man. I have many hobbies and interests. Overall, I am an entrepreneur with philanthropic tendencies. But I also love karate, books, movies, cooking, foreign languages, architecture, and a dozen other things. | | Music | I love anything that exhibits musical talent. Beat boxes don't count. Neither does jazz fusion. So, I own everything from classical, pop, jazz, country, blues, rock (hard, soft, metal, classic, etc...), polka, .... just about everything. I mostly like movie soundtracks. They allow you to listen to many different types of music and musicians without having to buy a dozen different albums. But mostly it's got to have a good beat, nice rhythms and energy. | | Movies | Mostly science fiction, fantasy, comedy, animation and action. But I'll watch just about anything once, just for the experience. My friends and I like to rent movies none of us have ever seen before, and tear it apart while watching it. So, I collect bad b-movies. I've got about 1200 movies in my collection, but I hate drama (sappy, unbelievable, 'chick flicks') and horror. If I wanted to watch someone bleed 200 psi blood, I'd rather watch Monty Python. | | Television | I really don't like television. There's not many things I'm willing to put up with commercials to watch. But there are exceptions. South Park, Simpsons, Robot Chicken, Boston Legal and Good Eats. There are some programs that make really interesting TV. Mostly UFO or something. But those are few and far between. I'm actually proud of the fact that I've never seen a whole episode of Friends, any PPWP (pretty people with problems) show, reality show, or cop show. I'd rather watch something about Rome on the History Channel than deal with drivel. | | Books | I read a lot. Science fiction, fantasy, business, investing, travel, biographies, mysteries, war, etc...
My mom was a librarian. Growing up, I might not be able to talk my mom into buying me a toy when we went out, but I could always talk her into buying me a book. This pretty much defines my heroes. They may not be well known, popular, or even real, but they are people who strive to win, even if they don't win. The path taken is more important than the outcome. |

About me:
I'm very smart and only sleep about 4-5 hours a night. So, I have a lot of time to fill. Mainly, I read, but I've also got a ton of hobbies to keep me busy. I think being intelligent is more of a curse. I'm often disappointed by the everyday antics of the masses and often go out of my way to avoid people all together.
I want simple things, though. I like things that are straightforward and plain.
I'm also very disappointed in the collapse of things like courtesy and valor. I hold things like honor, discipline and respect in high esteem. I loathe the fact that virtue is treated like a disease and the word itself is looked at with more disdain than most obscenities.
That's just wrong.

Who I'd like to meet:
There's a few people I'd love to meet.
I'd love to meet Nikola Tesla, Mark Cuban, Richard Branson or Robert Asprin.
I like people who are gifted in their field and visionaries. I also like people who have presence, like Teddy Roosevelt, who you 'knew' entered a room before you even saw them enter a room. That type of person amazes me.
