funguson has existed since 1994 and has always consisted of Pål Ingholm (guitar/vocals) and Espen Helvig (bass/guitar/vocals). Unfortunately their dear drummer, Tom Bye, had to leave the band in 2008 due to health issues. Funguson has released several singles and EP's, and the highly acclaimed albums "Penguin Lovegame" and "Indie Ocean".
The band is inspired by music from four decades. In a way you can say that the typical funguson sound would be to mix 60's 12-string Rickenbacker guitars with floating modulation effects from the 70's space/prog rock, 80's synthesizers and walls of fuzz from the 90's US east coast rock scene. The instruments used on the recordnings are authentic from the music periods listed above, played through vintage valve amplifiers and processed through obscure analogue signal sources.
Pål and Espen uses to write and sing half of the material each, which gives their albums a dynamic sound.
Through the years funguson has played with great acts like Mogwai, Sebadoh, Stereolab, Karate, Steve Westfield, The Soundtrack of Our Lives and Bel Canto, won "The So What! Award" in 1997 (Best Norwegian band) and become a solid live act.
"Indie Ocean" is released by Mas-Kina Recordings and distributed by Musikkoperatørene.
