   About Funkademia

Funkademia is Manchester's most successful and longest running soul-funktion.

Having formed over twelve years ago the night takes place every weekend to consistantly full houses feeding a friendly crowd with a diet of pure and unadultered soul-funk.

We bill our night as a 'chronological history of soul' with our exclusive dj collective taking you on a journey through four decades of the very best soul, funk, disco, rare groove, rap & hip hop with a touch of smooth r&b and electronica.

Funkademia takes place every Saturday at One Central Street, the night kicks off at 10.00pm and runs through until 3.00am. Advance tickets are available online through our exclusive ticket agent Skiddle : www.skiddle.com/whats-on/funkademia/

One Central Street is located in the heart of City Centre Manchester very close to the Town Hall. A sexy clubroom with loads of atmosphere - perfect for our soulful soires.

For information on the venue please visit www.onecentralstreet.co.uk or check out our reviews at http://www.funkademia.net/reviews.html

Music each and every Saturday is supplied by resident disc jockeys :
Goodforthesoul, Jon Bus Stop, Russ Martland, Jay Vereker, Fritz and Myk Nolan.

Yessum we’re back. after the monstrous success of Jackson’s Boat, we thought it only right and proper to offer you another helping of profoundly good music in a great venue. We’ve got a rosette for best zombie in show, beer and food from the nice folks at Jam Street and noise from Stumblefunk.

Another co-promo with the brains and muscle that brought Beats, Roots & Leaves back in May - this time tho we de-camp indoors to make the most of the Halloween theme inside a church, with face painters, ghost hunters, a bar provided by Jam Street and a fabulous line-up of musical tricker treats:

Na Zdrove
Na Zdrove is Sheffield's finest Balkan Beats, Gypsy Brass, Russian Ska, Gypsy Dub, Klezmer and Gypsy Punk night. blimey. We’ll ave some of that. We’ll be welcoming their house band and resident DJs - yes indeedy!

what? the folk!

May 8 2008 12:18 PM

On Wednesday May 14th we return to The Deaf Institute for an evening of lyrical, alternative and contemporary folk music and visual ambiance, in a modern modern setting, with pews, below a glass roof...........with Anna Kashfi, Dan Haywood's New Hawks and At Swim Two Birds who will feature a video projection of 'The London Nobody Knows'.

DONE 2 copy

"The London Nobody Knows, a 1967 documentary stroll around the city with James Mason. No horseguards, no palaces, but Islington's Chapel Market, pie shops, and Spitalfields tenements. Carnaby chicks and chaps, the 1967 we have been led to remember, are shockingly juxtaposed with feral meths drinkers, filthy shoeless kids, squalid Victoriana. Camden Town still resembles the world of Walter Sickert. There is romance and adventure, but mostly there is malnourishment. London looks like a shithole".

BigSexyLand - Charlie's, Friday March the 14th

"I move in mathematician fashion..."

John T and John D

The northern adventures of BigSexyLand continue at Charlie's. And if you're the geezer from last time, no, we've really not got any Aerosmith. Please stop asking.

If you're not that geezer, then feel free to ask for the very best in pouting pop, lethal electro and seriously corrosive acid.

Mail us at list@bigsexyland.co.uk for cheaper entry.

See you on Friday,
BSL
