FUNKHOUSER aka Drew Down and Dj Phunkae (New York, NY) In 2004 long time friends and studio partners Drew Down and Dj Phunkae were captured by the bass driven sounds of electro house. Inspired by this fresh new style and direction of house music, the duo began experimenting in the studio with straight beats incorporated into their signature chopped and screwed production style. As there sound developed and the digital music revolution began to emerge the duo started talking their sounds right to the dance floor. After playing out across New York and New England and maintaining residencies in CT, Funkhouser’s sound had been tested and approved by their fans! Funkhouser has always been more about the production rather than the rock star mentality of the DJ. Funkhouser has been known to create songs and new sets for shows 30 days out entirely from scratch mashing and remixing top 40 hits into electro house and re-funking the classic disco hits into monsters for today’s dance music enthusiasts. Funkhouser has remained consistent with their brand of electro funk and continues to progress in new directions. As of late the duo had once again returned to the break beat side of life as Chunk N Attack an upcoming act featured on the New York based label Real Hype Records.
