The twenty first century, saw what some view as a new trend in the music industry. More and more acts were merging two or more different genres to make what some have come to call beautiful music. This trend is nothing more than a sign of the changing times. The music industry has to move with these changes, or get left behind. What seems like the happening thing today can quickly become old news. Our culture is diverse and our music is indicative of that in more ways than one. With the success of the rap/rock genre and the fine lines between pop and the urban sound slowly becoming more and more obscured, it has become necessary for someone to act as a leader in this market. Someone needs to be a trendsetter. There has never been a better time for a company like Funk Lab Entertainment. Its roster embodies the music industry as a whole with acts ranging from soulful R&B to heavy hitting Rock and Roll. Funk Lab is the future of the music industry. It is founded on the belief that music can still be good while still attaining a level of success and recognition.
Founded in August 1998 by Adrian Davis, Funk Lab is the brainchild of a producer with a vision. In its modest beginnings, Funk Lab was nothing more than a studio set up in the basement of Adrians home. He was a struggling producer looking for someone to help him achieve his vision of success within the music industry. He was eventually joined by Ozzie Pendleton who, at the time an emcee, was still looking to make good music. After a failed attempt with Uniq Records, Ozzie met Adrian and they started to build a professional as well as personal relationship as artist and producer. It wasnt too long before they started making beautiful music together, and this in turn led to more artists joining with them. The roster now includes 13 artists ranging from rappers, singers to bands. As a result of working so closely with one another, each individual has grown. Some artists are becoming producers and the producers are becoming multi-faceted. The Funk Lab approach is grass roots. Its a bunch of people that come together to make good music that the music industry has yet to catch on to. Its all about making music that the artist and the audience can feel. With Funk Lab, what you see it what you get and this is as real as gets.
