Funkle Fatback ... A band based in Madison Georgia that plays funked up blues, rock and jam based music. for bookings or any other information, email us at funklefatback@hotmail.com----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Member bios;---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Jimmy Nolan – lead vocals and harmonica - Jimmy has played in several bands over that last, well too many years to admit to. Born and raised in Rutledge Ga. and having lived all his life in the north eastern part of the state, his influences range from traditional blues to “Athens music” but his deepest influences are 60s and 70s rockers like Zeppelin, Hendrix, Aerosmith and others. “When I started playing harmonica, I didn’t know about some of the great harmonica players like Sonny Boy Williamson, Sonny Terry and Sugar Blue so I tried to play like the guitar players I had listened to. I feel like this made my style kinda different and when I was finally exposed to these harmonica players, I think they influenced me in a different way because of my earlier influences” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Tim Whitlock - Drums - Tim's originally from the western half of North Carolina. Pick a city - he's probably lived in it or close to it. He's been playing drums in one form or another for 25 years and still can't live without it. He moved to GA in 1995 to be closer to his then fiance, now wife, Krista. After 12 years and 2 kids, it still seems like a pretty smart (maybe the smartest he's ever made) move. He currently works in Buckhead (the one with more money than sense) and gets plenty of time to listen to good tunes and contemplate the meaning of life on his hellatious commute.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Paul Ried- Guiatar - Paul was born and raised in Madison Ga. Worked as an audio engineer for 21 years for Denon Digital Ind and Savoy Jazz. Won a Grammy nomination for engineering, "My earliest guitar experience came when I heard the lead solo to Foxy Lady by Mr Hendrix. That was all she wrote - I'm hooked on the guitar for life. My influences are many, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Robin Trower, Frank Marino, Yngwie, Vai, Gilbert.... My musical taste are even more varied - Rock, Blues, Classical, Baroque, Jazz, Metal and Funk and pretty much any combination of those. I don't need a stinking TV show to tell me what is good music. My instruments of passion are Fender Stratocasters with scalloped necks and Ibanez RG models. I currently use a Rocktron Voodu Valve as my main tone generator. And NO that solo did not have "Too Many Notes". :) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Wayne McMichael - Guitar and Keyboards - Wayne plays guitar and keyboards-------------------------------------Bob White - Bass - Bob plays bass
I still can't believe there's a music festival in Buckhead...lol. It looks like it was a blast though....hmmm...maybe I'll have to check it out next year, but ONLY if Funkle Fatback is playing!!!
