I love Heirloom and old-fashioned Gardens with Roses,Fuschias, Iris, Lilacs, Chrysanthemums, Daisies, Pumpkins and mostly Pansies and Violets.... I grow antique flowers and vegetables and I was probably the first organic farm in Washington to grow and sell Heirloom flowers and vegetables including those Odd Tomatoes you see everywhere -- NOW ! I sold at the Gig Harbor Farmer's Market back in '93 -'94. And , I used to write a gardening column. I don't have the farm anymore....because now I sell Vintage clothes and vintage almost-anything else ! And.... I've had it...with the New Tacomans... no more Ms. NiceLady... I'm starting up the BLOG...you think you know Tacoma...You ain't seen nothing yet ! I have a sarcastic attitude but I am actually a very nice person ! My interest in being honest and telling the truth and challenging authority upsets people who insist on staying ignorant -- oh well ! I like the way things were made in the past -- Quality ! I hate Wal-Mart and crap made by slaves in poor countries. That's another reason I like vintage ... I hate to say I TOLD YOU SO ! but since I am a MOM, I told you that soft drinks (fizzy drinks in England) were BAD for you! Now didn't I ? They cause tooth decay, make you fat and can be part of the cause of you giving your child DIABETES, and they make kids turn into White Trash Monsters, even if they're not white.and I just wanted to mention that January's birthday is January 15th...she's 39. She's my first born. I love her more than I could ever tell you...no matter how many words I use....and aren't I a special mom, that I could arrange for a National Holiday just for her on her special special day??
Music
well now I'm listening to jazz......
Miles Davis, Brubeck, Dexter Gordon, T. Monk
.....Amy Winehouse Shins, Decemberists...uh... I grew up on old country and western, and rhythm and blues. Jimmie Rodgers , Woody Guthrie, Johnny Cash,Willie, Waylon (who's that Waylon Jennings and how did he get that name?, said the whale), Hank, Hank, Hank, all of 'em, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, all the old Southern blues and jazz.....Wanda Jackson, Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Patsy Montana....... I like anyone who has a State as a last name !
Robert Johnson, anyone with Blind in their name, and SKA !! and everyone loves Bob Marley... And good Christ ... how could I forget Skeeter Davis...cripes -- I have all her albums...Lucinda Williams is the top of my list now and has been since 1990 -- she calls that old country --"Stone Country". Neil Young is my top fella muscian now -- John Lennon is my favorite from my girlhood - he will always reign supreme. Dylan, duh, Jakob Dylan (did the theme song for THE GUARDIAN..how f'ing cool is that?) James McMurtry (wore out his first tape) -- And not just because my daughter is her friend, I LOVE Neko Case...Chris Isaak, Mike Johnson, Damien Jurado, Vicci Martinez....and the highly underrated Edie Brickell..... Classics --- Nina Simone,Peggy Lee, Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday.... and Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, Bobby Darin.... and some swing. I like Folk music as much too, and that's why Woody Guthrie is up there --- the Pogues -- I love the Irish!! ... Cure ! Pixies ! The Clash ! Nanci Griffith.... Kinky Friedman..... And let's not forget early 20th century music --Josephine Baker, Bessie Smith and so on.... it's all over the place....... it has to tell a story and the music has to fit .... or it can be slow....and weepy... I am a sucker for the Power Ballad .......
Movies

Television
I don't really like anything on much on TV ...tho I do wish I had cable TV....Gawd I DESPISE REALITY SHOWS.... I get no TV reception at all ..I watch shows on the internet ....I just watched ALL of LOST...and now onto Mad Men..I love the clothes...
I still love NCIS because of David McCallum who used to be in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964) with co-star Robert Vaughn (do you remember Ilya Kuryakin ?) & Pauley Perrette was born in New Orleans -- gothy girl who studied for a Master's degree in Criminology -- now that's my kinda girl ! and of course major eye candy-- Mark Harmon !
The OFFICE .....and EARL.... because I told you so.......
I still miss The Guardian 'cause it was a show about pretty much what I do for neglected and abused kids in my other life as law-nerd. Best freaking Theme Song EVER -- Jakob Dylan......hello !! OMG !!! The Mentalist !!! Yes..... the Ellen Show !!
Books
I have SO many books in my house -- it is tipping to the west.......Right Now I'm re-reading: the Rise and Fall of Cities, by Jane Jacobs, and re-reading Moby Dick this summer, then on to Conrad .... I will read anything.....but when the world is a bit amiss... I pick up poetry... or a fashion magazine.....from the sublime to the ridiculous.......
Heroes
People who resist narcissism....and understand why anyone who is like George W. Bush is bad for humanity and the planet that my 4 granddaughters will have to live on........ ************************* Gee I Would Love To ADD The Evergreen State College but it doesn't have a Myspace page, because they don't understand computers...they are "old school" ....

I sell vintage because it sets you apart from the Sheeple...I synthesize disparate information into a cohesive whole. A vintage lifestyle has an attitude of rebellion, sexuality, and freedom—and certainly a sneering expression of disdain for authority figures.

Oh thank you so much for the cute SS gifts! I rigged a hook in that little camera and hung it on the Christmas Tree and it was so cute!
Oh and those headscarves have been a life saver while we scrape, sand and refinish our hardwood floors, even though my hubby thinks I am channeling Amy Winehouse wearing them! Ha!
