PIERRE HELLIO has been graduated "Drummer of the year 2005" at the London College of Music and Media(LCMM), Drumtech and Thames Valley University.
Pierre performed with different bands in many music venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Shepherd's Bush Empire, Jazz Cafe, Roundhouse, Virgin Megastore, The Sound, Jazz after Dark, Blag Club, Bermondsey Festival, Notting Hill Arts Club, The Bedford, Twickenham, Aston Villa, Leicester and Coventry Rugby stadium for the semi final of the European Heineken Rugby Cup, Hilton Hotels, POP, Punk. In Paris Funky Pierre has performed @ "le salon de la musique" parc de la Villette in Big Band, at the TRABENDO" and Baisé Salé jazz club.
Pierre is a busy freelance musician drummer percussionist, playing, recording with many people and teaching drums and percussions in schools all around London. Also, Pierre is actually working for the Roundhouse in Camden, The Institute and Folkies Music Shop in Kilburn. Jazz funk specialist, Pierre is an open minded musician who love playing Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop, Samba, Reggae, Afrobeat, Drum&Bass, Blues, Metal...and any good music for more than 16 years.
Pierre's main project at the moment are LV Project ( Jazz Funk Latin Fusion ), Xsentrick Gemini, a 10 piece jazz-funk-nu jazz band, also , Batusamba Collective( Percussion Batucada Ensemble)with Anna Bengo( Pop-Rock ), The Indie Soul Movment ( World Music ) , and Susana Lang-Lenton( Spanish Pop/ Flamenco). Pierre is also involve in corporate events, session work and is regularly performing in covers band ( Rock, Disco and Jazz).
Before moving in London, Pierre studied at the Agostini drum school and at the The Conservatoire Nationale Music School in the Jazz section. Funky Pierre is considered as "A tireless drummer adding dashes of syncopation" by the "Kilburn Time'".
Pierre is playing Capelle drum kit and Vater drum sticks.
Pierre Hellio est né en 1979 à Saint-Brieuc (Bretagne) où sa passion pour la musique le conduit dès l’âge de 13 ans derrière les toms.
Très vite, le désir de découvrir la scène se fait sentir et Pierre monte quelques groupes de rock avant de s’ouvrir au funk, jazz et autre reggae grâce à la découverte de batteurs tels que Denis Chambers ou Omar Hakim.
Il perfectionne son jeu au sein de l’école Agostini et du Conservatoire de jazz de Saint-Brieuc.
Mais en quête d’une pédagogie moins figée et d’une ouverture vers d’autres cultures et musiciens, Pierre décide de s’expatrier Outre Manche en 2001 afin de parfaire sa formation à la célèbre Drumtech de Londres.
Il y sera élu « Batteur de l’année 2005 » tout en étant diplômé la même année au London College of Music and Media.
Batteur technique et polyvalent, Pierre joue aujourd’hui dans une dizaine de groupes tels que "Xsentrick Gemini", "Susana Leng-Lenton", "LV Project" "Christian Fontana".
Ces diverses collaborations lui permettent de se produire régulièrement sur des scènes prestigieuses telles que "Queen Elizabeth Hall", "Shepherd's Bush Empire", "Jazz Café" tout en enseignant dans 4 écoles et travaillant pour la Drum Institute de Londres, The Roundhouse a Camden and Folkies music shop.
