I am a native Florida Folk Artist that paints mermaids, drinking signs and tiki bar fun wall hangings.
I use found wood, often from the sea. I live on the West Coast of Florida, currently in Siesta Key where I practically live on the beach.
I like to paint signs like I used to see in my old favorite bars. I'm a 9th generation Floridian and like most natives I have my version of "Old Florida." My version is brightly colored, shattered/damaged wood, unevenness, tequila-soaked good times. Rum soaked, too.
Beer drenched. Sun burns and mad good road trips. And thbeach...always the beach. I try to paint these memories and longings into everything I do. Everything is original. Hand done. I have a mobile art studio. Currently I'm set up under two palms.
I lived aboard a boat -- the TiKiMaMa -- for a year, almost half of it alone. I made it year. Part of it with a crazy guy trying to cut my anchor line, replacing my gas with water and all sorts of things. You know. It didn't matter. That is what love, desire and belonging will do to your backbone. I want to return to the sea, get a single hand friendly boat and go live on the hook again for the rest of my life. My main gallery is at
A man who can sail, can live a harsh but beautiful life who has so much peace in his soul he radiates. MUST NOT BE AFRAID OF HARD WORK. Must love the sea like his own blood. Artist/writer-perfect. Woodworker/boat worker --even better than best.
