Fur Dixon and Steve Werner Hailing from Van Nuys, California, but equally at home anywhere under the western sky, well-traveled California folk favorites Fur and Steve will take you on a rollicking musical joyride through the back roads and highways of the American West. Known for their dazzling two-part harmonies, their spectacular yodeling, awesome guitar picking, wise-cracking humor all serve to compliment their old and new-timey traveling songs.
Fur Dixon is a foot-stomping, sassy cowgirl with musical influences from June and Mother Maybelle Carter, Hazel Dickens and Johnny Cash. She lives and writes in her own beloved west full of fruit trees, friendly faces, desolate desert highways and the music of the cowboy. Not quite a realist, Fur believes that she can create the world she wants to be in through song and imagination, by remembering the past and bringing it up into the now. She is a gifted, deep and insightful writer whose songs demolish the gap between old and new, speaking straight to the heart of the listener. Fur’s voice is the voice of a dear friend heard across a campfire on a starry night.
Steve Werner is an unrepentant, motorcycle-riding, story-telling, hard-traveling, flat-picking, son of a gun and his original folk songs have the timeless quality of classics. Steve likes to write new old songs that have a smoky western campfire flavor. His lyrics speak in the language of truck stops, train stations and the wide open road. He's a cowboy-hatted, yodeling troubadour. He’s an award-winning guitar picker, deeply rooted in the traditions of Doc Watson, Norman Blake and Merle Travis.
Together, they’re a combination that can’t be beat, with a show that’s fun, heartfelt and drenched in the rich traditions of Bluegrass, Western and good old American folk music. Yes, this is folk music. There will be sing-alongs.

Hi Fur & Steve - Sorry for posting this as a comment instead of sending an invitation…we’re too stupid to figure out how to send an event invitation! The Ridge Route Romeos are coming to Ronnie Mack's Barn Dance on Tuesday, July 7 for a set of songs about drinking, bad decisions, and degenerate behavior. We'll be featuring special guests Marty Rifkin on steel and John Groover McDuffie on guitar. Fun for the whole family, as long as the whold family is over 21 and not confined to the trailer park by an electronic tracking device! There will be 5 of the finest roots-music bands in LA, with the all-star Barn Dance Band kicking it off at 8:30. The Ridge Route Romeos take the stage at 10:30.

Funny how this cyberspace connects and reconnects.
I would love for you to see/hear what I have been working on. It has been a long slow path of story gathering from around Ventura County from old timers, descendants and historians. Crusty tales, love songs, ghost stories.
Are you involved this year again at Underwood Family Farms? I would love to get us there. We played 2 years ago on the day of the big fire...surreal...no audience...a bright orange sky.
