Furniture Girls doesn't sound like a Seattle band. You won't get any twang, folk-pop harmonies or atmospheric, shoe-gazing riffs from this quartet. Instead, they just crank out the jams; brash, bold, funky-as-hell electro-rock that gets a crowd moving. With a seasoned lineup that includes producer/guitarist Bubba Jones, vocalist stayC Meyer, bassist Jim Watkins and drummer Thane Mitchell, Furniture Girls have been filling clubs throughout the Northwest with audiences hungry for something dynamic and different since 2007. In that time, they've performed with alt-rock luminaries like Sky Cries Mary and My Life with the Thrill Kill Cult and shared the stage with countless musical guests, including the legendary Dr. Fink (of Prince and the Revolution), guitarist Michael Cozzi and soul singer Darrius Willrich. Even though they fly under the hipster radar, Furniture Girls have become one of the most respected bands in Seattle's music community, with annual appearances at music and arts festivals like Noise for the Needy, the Comcast Bite of Seattle, the Rock 'n' Roll Seattle Marathon and the University District Street Fair. The band's critically-acclaimed debut album, How I Learned to Crawl, was released by Critical Sun Recordings in August of 2010. Furniture Girls... an explosive, funky blend of electronic, industrial and alternative rock..

What began as an electronic music collaboration between stayC Meyer (aka Butterfly Hambone) and Nikki Wolgamott (aka Viking Snocone), Furniture Girls turned a corner in the early 2000s.

At the time, Nikki was interning as a sound engineer for producer Bubba Jones, owner of Seattle’s ContactCreate Studios. Upon hearing what the pair were working on — an edgy blend of industrial, dance and hip hop, with lyrical topics ranging from urban culture clashes to otherworldly romance — Bubba decided to get involved.

First, he signed on with the band as its principal producer and lead guitarist. Next, he set out to add a drummer (Thane) and bassist (Jim) to the Furniture Girls’ music, which had previously only existed on Meyer’s and Wolgamott’s drum machines.

Since then, Furniture Girls have raised their profile in the Seattle music scene, growing a loyal fan base by performing over 50 high-energy shows around the Northwest with dozens of local and national acts such as Sky Cries Mary, My Life With The Thrill Kill Cult and Kristeen Young.

Some of the group’s noteworthy recent appearances include a radio interview on KKNW (Seattle), a two-week run as a featured artist on Microsoft’s Windows Media Guide and as the support band for Sky Cries Mary on their tour of the Northwest in December of 2009.
