Furthermore Recordings is pleased to announce our two inaugural recordings are now available.
The first offering is from Texas trumpet titan Dennis Gonzalez and features his two sons, Aaron and Stefan on bass and drums, New Orleans saxophonist Tim Green, and multi-dimensional percussionist Famoudou Don Moye on loan from the Art Ensemble of Chicago. Dennis calls the group Renegade Spirits. They are not afraid to bring the voodoo.
Second, we are honored to offer a new recording by the legendary Azar Lawrence. As a Coltrane disciple, he ignited McCoy Tyner's band with his firebrand tenor in the 1970's. Ever the seeker, Prayer For My Ancestors hearkens back to the classic Coltrane sound and takes the listener on a journey to the Motherland. Azar is joined by the mighty Nate Morgan on piano, Henry Franklin on bass, and the incomparable Alphonse Mouzon on drums. Several special guests round out the date and we believe it is one for the ages.
Upcoming: Our next project is another session with Dennis Gonzalez. It is a quartet date with Curtis Clark on piano, Reggie Workman on bass, and Michael T.A. Thompson on drums. It should be available in Spring 2009. Keep it tuned in here for details.
