Fury UK is emerging as one of the most widely-respected & individual hard rock/metal bands Britain currently has to offer. Both fans & media that have witnessed a Fury UK live show confirm their place as "future classics" - a title bestowed upon the band by Rock Radio in both the Manchester & Scottish regions & supported in their performances in 2008 at the Bloodstock Festival, Bulldog Bash, Rock of Ages Fest & Monsters Of Mosh.
Although sometimes difficult to categorise, the band draws impressively, enthusiastically & respectfully from its' influences such as Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, Black Sabbath, Metallica & Rush. It's such rock/metal royalty that Fury UK will one day join if the reaction to live gigs is any kind of gauge & all the more impressive for being delivered within the dynamics of a 3 piece.
Chris Appleton : lead vocals & lead guitar
Martin McNee : drums & backing vocals
Luke Appleton : bass guitar & Backing vocals
In 2007 Fury UK signed to independent label Rocksector Records & later that year the debut album "Face Of Adversity" was released. This was an impressive yet unpredictable debut, a composite of the members' varied backgrounds spawning the likes of the fast-paced "Krueger", the politically-conscious "Natural Disaster", the stomping "Breakthrough", the subtle yet heavy "The End" & a surprising acoustic closer entitled "The Lost Soul". "Face Of Adversity" was however quickly surpassed by the EP "Salvation" in February 2008, again on the Rocksector label, & this signalled a new era for the band with a new bassist & drummer. This EP has channelled the band's sound into the trademark that is now becoming recognised as a growing force in British rock/metal. The EP features 3 tracks. The title track kicks off instantly as a tour-de-force, medium-to-fast paced, with trademark blistering guitar parts & an anthemic chorus, all under-pinned by the bedrock rhythm section. Next up is "Manslaughter" which despite its' serious subject matter has a lighter groove-metal feel to it which gets feet stamping & heads banging without delay. Lastly on this EP is "Lost In Forever" an epic track with light & dark shades, gentle passages followed by the eruption of another anthemic chorus, ultimately topped-off with a fundamental change in time signature for a raucous & inspired rolling riff leading into yet more guitar heroics from Chris Appleton & the Bill Ward-inspired classic drumming of Martin McNee.
History....
Fury UK was formed originally by Chris Appleton back in 2002 in Manchester, England. In one of its' earliest forms a consistent period of development took place & the 3 members grew together, learning their art & paying their dues with an impressive commitment to live gigs. In 2006 & 2007, live performances averaged around 65/70. In late 2007, not long after the release of the band's debut album, an undercurrent of personal discontent (due to ever-differing musical ambitions & interest) heralded a double-change with bassist Adam Cropper & drummer Martin McNee joining the band. That line-up released the "Salvation" EP & continued until August 2008 when Adam Cropper found it necessary to leave the band due to personal issues. Chris Appleton's brother Luke joined on bass, a change which in many respects was seamless. Fury UK has been honoured to be billed alongside such bands as Nightwish, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, The Wildhearts, Breed 77, Blaze Bayley & more, during these past months. Such company is not beyond the band, a point which the band members confidently but respectfully acknowledge.
Present day - future....
The brothers-in-arms now front Fury UK, with the well-established Martin McNee remaining in inspired form behind the drum kit. Since that final change the band has enjoyed an ever-increasing reputation for its' captivating live performances. The gig schedule is unblemished & continues up to the beginning of 2009 when recording begun on a 2nd album entitled "VR", scheduled for release in July 2009, again on Rocksector Records who continue to work & support the band with a strong relationship. The gigs have again built up during 2009 towards the current 20-date UK tour as main support to former-Iron Maiden frontman Blaze Bayley, followed by Fury UK's headlining "VR Tour".
