Future Butterflies is an Elliott Smith fan documentary that's currently a work in progress.
The documentary will be put together from submissions sent in by fans and when it's finished it will be handed over to the Elliott Smith Memorial Fund (ESMF) to help raise money for the organisations supported by the ESMF.
Future Butterflies is not aiming to be a biopic in any sense, it’s purely about the effect and influence that Elliott and his music have had on people from all walks of life. As such the only story that the documentary will try to tell is the one about the fans and their stories of how Elliott’s music has impacted on them and touched their lives.
The response to Future Butterflies has been overwhelming - we’ve received submissions from fans of all ages from all over the world, including some from a few very well known faces from the music and entertainment industries!
If you’d like to take part in this amazing collaborative project there are several things you can do; from organising and filming some video footage, to taking part in the documentary’s photo project, or simply helping to spread the word about Future Butterflies – everyone can get involved!
