"In October I completed the weekend Advance course. From the moment i arrived i will say i was made to feel very relaxed and welcome by Micke (fastest fingers in the west) my tutor. The class is kept to 4 people which is a great size. With this and the relaxed structure of the course there was plenty of individual attention and plenty of room for questions. The Course includes basic scratching techniques, i must admit i have never been able to scratch, instead of fingers i have hoofs for hands, but Mickie with his endless patience gave me the direction and confidence to learn the basics, and understand when these can be applied to not only mixing techniques, but be able to use to correct mixes and get out of trublesome mixes. The course took me through Eq Tricks, advanced pitch control, beat juggling, the industry as a whole, valuable hints and insight knowledge to getting gigs, plus lots more. The whole weekend gives a great confidence booster, and was great fun to be around like minded people... in short... great course, great confidence booster... lots to learn... ave it..!!!"
"Just wanted to say nice one for the course guys. Micke is a very good (and patient!) teacher. I feel much more confident about mixing now and have now developed quite a few turntablist skills to compliment! Who'd have thought it after only two days of intense training! Nice 1."
Morphingaz: "When I started out as a DJ at the age of 13 there were no such things as DJ schools and writing music on a computer in your own home was not even considered possible for another 10 years. "
..."I taught my first course in DJ skills at Bondi Youth Centre (W.A.Y.S) 15 years ago and have since run DJ workshops in Sydney, New York, and London for all age groups.
Futureskool is running courses throughout the winter for one on one coaching and small group classes
Each student gets a considerable amount of hands on practice and personal attention. The group class (maximum 10) begins with a dj history lesson and an overview of the equipment used. Then the practice begins and the music plays ; chirps, transforms, tears, fades, flares, crabs, juggles and other techniques are explained, taught and practiced until everyone becomes itchy for more.
All DJ courses also introduce students to the available production courses at Futureskool, touching on software programs such as Ableton, Reason, Logic and many more. contact us for more info or to book a course. info@futureskool.com
