Gabby Parsons's Interests
General
I'm a voracious reader and am usually reading two or three things at the same time. Travel is fun and I'd like to learn more about photography.
Music
I have new favorites all the time. I have flipped for Gnarls Barkley, Amy Winehouse, John Butler Trio, Will Hoge,Ryan Shaw, Sonia Dada, Subdudes, deSol, Los Lonely Boys, Mike Doughty, Death Cab for Cutie, Warren Haynes, of course Phish and Frank Zappa and a TON of blues. Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Morphine, Dan Hicks, Bob Dylan,Robbie Robertson, John Fogerty, Mark Knopfler,Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band, the Ramones, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, etc....
Movies
Don't get out to the movies much. But I won't miss a film by Christopher Guest, Michael Moore or John Waters. It's also fun to go to the Highway 18 Drive in in Jefferson.
Television
Don't tell anyone, but I am a reality show addict. It all began, quite innocently with Survivor, naturally morphed into Amazing Race and American Idol ( which I watch while doing other things, so give me a break).. oh, ok, I've seen The Bachelor a few times. I'm also addicted to Keith Olbermann's Countdown on MSNBC, so my brains are not TOTALLY mush. My latest all time favorite is FAMILY GUY!
Books
Check out the fiction of Bill Fitzhugh for laughs and suspense. In the past few years or so I read and enjoyed The Time Travelers Wife, I Am Charlotte Simmons and several anthologies by Chuck Klosterman. A chilling food for thought novel by Phillip Roth," The Plot Against America" where Charles Lindbergh becomes president and signs a pact with Hitler. I love the books by Spider Robinson and Jennifer Weiner.
Heroes
My dad was and will always be my hero. I miss ya Dad.
About me: I'm a seasoned radio announcer, having worked all over the country: Worcester Mass, Hartford CT, Harrisburg PA, Oklahoma City, Seattle, Albany NY and now in Madison Wisconsin.
Catch me afternoons from 2-7 central time on 1055 Triple M, Madison's progressive station. I am Music Director and play new music every weeknight at 9 PM.
Who I'd like to meet: A dream dinner would be John Waters, Michael Moore, Johnny Depp, Tina Fey and Steve Colbert. All highly original people with tons of talent.
I also love meeting my listeners when I get out and about.
I LOVED Vampire Weekend's song when you played it today, but this video is even more awesome. I haven't seen anything this creative since OK GO did that choreography on their treadmills!
