  • Bio

Gabe played accordion at age 6, graduating to the ukulele at 8 and finally the guitar at 9. Elvis was a big influence at this stage, as were Chet Atkins and Segovia; his later influences reflected the varied music scene of New York City: bluegrass bands, folk music, and cool jazz. While still in high school Gabe studied with famed country blues guitar master and guitar instruction book author Stefan Grossman, making a weekly trip into the Greenwich Village of the mid-60s, where he was heavily influenced by the emerging folk music boom. At the same time he studied with Long Island jazz guitar guru Howard Morgen, another instruction book author. .. .. At age 16, Gabe won a ..Downbeat.. magazine scholarship for summer study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. He later enrolled at Berklee for his college studies. After graduating with a degree in Composition, he taught guitar and played in bands all over New England. After nine years of working as a musician, he took a small detour and enrolled at Boston University Law School. For the 25 years he practiced law, Gabe planned estates and drafted wills and trusts, and in 2003 he wrote and published a book called "How to Protect Your Family's Assets from Devastating Nursing Home Costs: Medicaid Secrets," (www.MedicaidSecrets.com) currently the best-selling book on its topic. However, music was still calling... In the Winter of 2008, he drove his two cats, a carload of musical instruments, and some basic recording equipment to a small apartment in the historic Mexican mountain town of San Miguel de Allende. For four months he walked the colonial cobblestone streets, absorbed the Mexican sunshine, and wrote a ton of new songs, many of which wound up on his upcoming CD. It was during this period he decided to move to Nashville: with its concentration of great musicians, studios, and producers, Nashville was the key to Gabe's finally getting his music out to the world. His debut CD, "Persistence of Memory," released in April 2010, was produced by the well-regarded Indie producer and artist/songwriter Neilson Hubbard (producer of Matthew Perryman Jones, Garrison Starr, Glen Phillips, etc.). "With his three-octave vocal range, sophisticated guitar arrangements, and well-crafted songs, Gabe puts on a great one-man show!"
