About me: Improvisation is the keystone to my art. I often start a work without a preconceived idea to allow for a stream of consciousness. My art explores nonlinear space-time, perspective, and memory. Usually working on the floor above the surface, I can access all corners equally, which allows me freedom to shift forms and perspective. Merging seen and imagined objects with text, hieroglyphs and pictographs, the paintings are an amalgam of information where the sources are obfuscated, whether drawn from digital camera, web images, printed material, or ‘in the flesh’.
One series of works are automatic interpretations of ambient sound in the urban environment. Extraordinary scenes of city life, decaying still life and self-portraits are recurring themes with an absurd bent. I am also interested in addressing pollution and ecological sustainability by using recycled material for sculpture and collage. All my works have luscious color and a sense of humor and whimsy that I hope you will enjoy.
