Chanteuse, pianiste, et auteur-compositeur new yorkaise, Gabriela Arnon a étudié la musique classique au "High School of Music and Art » et le jazz avant de prêter sa voix au rock mélodique.Remarquée par Willie Colon, Gabriela est engagée comme choriste pour sa tournée mondiale aux côtés de Ruben Blades et de Soledad Bravo.
Installée en France depuis 1989, elle se fait connaître au Festival de jazz d’Antibes-Juan-Les-Pins, au Festivals de Mulhouse et de Haute Bourgogne, à Marrakech, à Tachkent, en Toscane, dans les églises de la Cappadoce, et à Paris au Petit Journal, à L’Entrepôt, La Java, au Triton, à l’Hôtel du Nord…
Sur sa lancée, elle part en Suisse pour collaborer avec Christophe Mueller (Gotan Project). Ensemble, ils créent le groupe trip-hop-art-rock "Ten Mother Tongues » et enregistrent l’album "The Listening Tree".
Décidée à poursuivre ses élans rock-lyrique jazzy, Gabriela enregistre "The Saint Amand Sessions" avec le producteur Brian Cullman et les meilleurs musiciens anglophones de Paris dont Sal Bernardi et Marten Ingle.
Pour son premier album solo : « Trouble with Park Avenue », Gabriela Arnon nous emmène dans un voyage nostalgique. Pour créer une atmosphère hypnotique et douce, elle s’est entourée de musiciens reconnus de la scène underground flamande, HT Roberts et Niels Delvaux, du saxophoniste Marc de Maeseneer et du trompettiste Bart Maris.
Dans cette « girl at a piano music», on entend Cold Play et les Pink Floyd dans le planant « Flood Your House », une fusion acid-jazz-klezmer médiévale dans « Le Masque », avec un texte d’auteur français (Chochana Boukhobza).
Mais méfiez-vous de l’eau qui dort, cette femme brûle aussi de passion. Les ambiances intenses et volcaniques de Ten Mother Tongues sont ici présentes sous une forme plus intériorisée.Dans "Legend": guerrière mariée, elle s’impatiente de ne plus livrer bataille. Avec «Timothy’s Moon» elle exhorte son amoureux à se réveiller et le met en garde: comme la lune de Timothy elle pourrait s’éclipser. Avec 30 pistes d’harmonies vocales dans le refrain, « Love Like the Rain » joue d’une ambiance gospel-pop à la Cat Stevens. « January Grey », véritable clé de voûte de l’album, rend hommage à Paris, la ville qui l’a accueilli et guidé sous les vents de janvier après sa rupture avec New York. C’est elle qui lui inspire le dernier vers de l’opus : «Je t’aime Paris, je t’aime, Paris je t’aime… Si belles tes voies où je me promène».
D’une rare intensité émotionnelle, « Trouble With Park Avenue » est un album envoûtant qui vous fera longtemps vibrer car il résonne comme une douce mélodie au coeur de l’hiver.

Born and raised in Manhattan, Gabriela Arnon was weaned on the Off-Off Broadway Theatre scene of the 1970’s. She attended the High School of Music and Art, and finished school at The American University of Paris.
Background vocalist with Willie Colon and Ruben Blades. Co-founder of Ten Mother Tongues with Christoph Mueller (Gotan Project). Their CD, “The Listeing Tree”, was released in France to critical acclaim in 1996.
Next stop was the studio St. Amand with some very cool sessions involving some of Brian Cullman & Gabriela’s very musical friends: Sal Bernardi, Marten Ingle,Danny Montgomery, George Wolfaardt, Proffessor Henry and his madly gifted cohorts. And let us not forget our dear friend Jewls Kirkman on engineering, a few years before he decided it was time to go. All our love and respect, and many rainbows to him and his family.
Recent projects include Tonton Didou’s album "MISS TERRE" with Jipé Kinzaki, being a featured guest on guitarist Stéphane Guery’s upcoming album, and the incredible experience of opening for Emmanuel Djob and "GOSPELIZE IT MASS CHOIR".
Having sung from North and South America to Uzbekistan, and in France at the Festival du Jazz d’Antibes, Le Petit Journal, Le Triton, L’Hotel du Nord, L’Entrepot, etc, Gabriela has found that her true home is where musicians are what they play - real instruments exploring the ever-evolving nuances of the human heart.
Her new album “Trouble with Park Avenue”, features multi-instrumentalist/producer HT Roberts, drummer/percussionist Niels Delvaux, Marc De Maeseneer on saxes and Bart Maris on trumpet. It is out in Benelux, and will be released in France on Lil People Records in 2008. Hats off to the ever-evolving adventure!
