Folk style musician, Gabriel Gandzjuk, has recently announced the release of his alluring new seven song EP album entitled, Just A Hustle. The artist's uniquely hard-to-categorize folksy style has frequently been referred to as minimalist in a purely modest way. Featuring just the man, his guitar, and his voice, each of the acoustic album's seven songs are hauntingly introspective and thoroughly thought-provoking.
Raised throughout California, Gabriel Gandzjuk has an impressive story to tell as an artist. It wasn't long after a devastating motorcycle accident that Gandzjuk's newly-discovered knack for songwriting became prolific. Before long, the artist picked up a guitar and began interpreting the old Muddy Waters song, "Sittin' Here and Drinkin' (Whiskey Blues)." From then on, something just clicked; writing and performing music was not only a true passion for the artist, but also just a way of life.
With a style all of his own, Just A Hustle delivers Gandzjuk's uniquely soulful (and often beautifully harsh) voice, complemented by his trademark intriguing "junky in a good way" acoustic guitar playing. It is no surprise that Gandzjuk's west-coast influence strikes home, with songs brim full with imagery - in many ways, he's a musical John Steinbeck. And, although his sound is completely original, it would be hard not to hear ghost-notes of Elvis Presley's Sun Records Sessions channeled pleasantly through the music.
