Gabriella Greco is a 20-year-old aspiring singer and songwriter who was born and raised in Upstate New York. Her Aunt discovered her talent when she heard Gabriella singing “Somewhere over the Rainbow” from the classic movie, The Wizard of Oz. Gabriella was only two years old. Her Aunt described the experience as chilling. She says, “I could not believe that power like that was coming out of her tiny body. I was amazed and she was absolutely beaming. She had the biggest smile I had ever seen. I knew at that moment what her destiny would be.” Perhaps in her own way, so did Gabriella. Despite growing up with Cerebral Palsy and having to overcome the many challenges that life set for her, Gabriella continued to sing.Gabriella would begin formal vocal instruction when she was 12 years old and would dabble in piano lessons for two years. Music allowed Gabriella to express herself in ways that she never thought were possible. She got her greatest joy when she was able to be onstage. In 2006, after completing her two year study at the Prestigious New York State Theatre Institute (NYSTI) in Troy NY, Gabriella took a huge leap of faith and moved to New York City in hopes of making her dream become a reality. Just when she was about to give up, fate had other plans for her. On March 30, 2008, Gabriella’s life changed in a very dramatic way. The prestigious Heather on Earth Music Foundation honored her alongside prodigious musical savant, Brittany Maier as well as the host of CNBC’s “The Big Idea” Donny Deustch where she received The Purple Heart of Courage Award. It was through Heather on Earth founder; Geri Fessler that Gabriella would have the opportunity of her lifetime. On May 14, 2008, she auditioned with Sony-Epic Records. It truly was an extremely rewarding experience for her and she looks forward to what the future holds. Gabriella feels extremely blessed with everything that has happened for her in the past two years. Through her destiny, she has realized that no dream is impossible to reach. Gabriella looks towards the future with a positive attitude and a continuous song in her heart. She hopes that by sharing her gift she will make a difference.
