Gabrielle has been singing all her life. Her concert going experiences began in the womb, when her parents attended a Grateful Dead concert. She began humming her own melodies as a toddler and true songwriting began as soon as she learned her basic chords on a guitar 15 years ago. She and her brother formed numerous bands in High School and rehearsed constantly in their basement. Between them they cannot remember the names of any of these bands—but fond memories of electric shocks due to ungrounded equipment abound.
In 2001 she released her first album through independent producer, Concept Studios. Tabling her music career for nearly eight years she completed her B.A. and her Master’s degree only to emerge with fresh tunes in her head and a more developed musical style the depth of which she attributes to her eight years of study and “growing up” in general. She is now working on new material for her next album after finishing in studio re-recording some old songs for a dynamic pair of producers from the publishing company Grafton Street Songs, who have worked with renowned artists including Diggin' in the Crates legend A.G., Iraqi lyrical-activist The Narcicyst of Euphrates, award-winning folk rocker Dale Boyle--NY Press Live Artist of 2008, Homeboy Sandman, and Canadian legend Joni Mitchell. Gabrielle plays several times a year at the Yellow Door—her favorite local haunt, as well as around Montreal, Toronto, and soon Halifax where she is thrilled to be performing at the In The Dead of Winter Festival in January 2010.
Influenced by guitar slinging troubadours such as Ani Difranco, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Van Morrison, her music is often about a feeling. Her muse is the amalgamation of people in her life, or an imaginary scenario. Above all she loves the journey of a song.
