In the rough and tumble world of the music business, what are the odds of success for a young, female singer competing against the major multi-national corporations that control the music business? If you are Mexican born and Los Angeles bred Gabby Villanueva, success has come because of incredible talent and a great deal of hard work. Without the benefit of being signed to a major label, Villanueva has established herself as a nationally known singer and televisión personality all from her small home in Miami.
Recording with top musicians and producers in Miami she personally financed her debut album "Mundos Diferentes" and released it on her own label, iRock Music. Since then Gabby has been turning heads and ears onto her unique sound of mariachi and pop-rock. She was the first indie artist to reach the top-10 on iTunes Latino. Her three music videos have aired on all of the major video outlets including MTV Tr3s, mun2, HBO Latino, and others. She has received unprecedented press coverage including articles in La Opinion’s La Vibra, Vogue Latino America, People en Español, Ocean Drive, TV Notas, Vriz, EFE, and others. She is omnipresent on the internet having been prominently featured on sites including iTunes, Batanga, Terra, myspace Latino, Yahoo Musica, etc. Radio stations from Miami to Venezuela have played her three single releases to date.
In 2002, she was a contestant on Telemundo's reality show Protagonistas De la Música, and worked for Telemundo as an entertainment reporter. Gabby Villanueva is one of the few young multi-talented performers who has captured the hearts of audiences from all over the US and Latin America with her music and charismatic personality. The small screen has been part of her life working with the most important national Spanish-speaking networks in the United States including Telemundo, Univision, MTV Tr3s, American Latino Television and others. Recently she was hired as a co-host of Galavision’s weekly nationally broadcast entertainment show "Accesso Maximo". Gabby has also appeared in various national commercials along side Piolin and Grammy award winning Colombian singer Juanes.
Gabby’s musical influences originate in her genes. Her grandmother and her parents spent parts of their lives dedicated to songwriting and performance. At a very early age, it was clear that Gabby had a love for music and performance and that success was dependant on hard work. Villanueva continues her duel career as a singer and televisión personality and will continue to leverage her national exposure to benefit her entertainment endeavors. She knows no other way to do it.
