Gafftape blend melody with metal adding enough grunge to be hardcore. An impressive underground sound that strikes a raw nerve proving that great metal exists not only on the main stages. The combined energy of Steve and Stu fuel an exciting stage act that is tight musically and full of action.
The Portishead quartet who have a particular liking to cider, ‘our main influence’ should be noted for their uncanny ability to produce melodies that slip elegantly into the full on hardcore metal attack.

Gafftape formed in Portishead, Bristol, England in 1999 from the remains of defunct local outfits Mauve Rollo, Nausea and Punishment. Mixing a hybrid of metal and hardcore, they gained a reputation as an intense and energetic live band, wasting little time before issuing their first EP 'Kn't' in 2000. An intense combination of down-tuned riffing and dynamic vocals, it was well received within the underground metal scene with stand out track 'Edge Down' included on a compilation issued by Psychophonic Records. After playing headline shows at both The Fleece and Bierkeller in Bristol and with an ever increasing profile, the band recorded their second EP 'Klout', a fiercer, yet more mature collection of songs that has been received with entusiastic reviews.
As well as frequent appearences at Bristol's top live music venues The Fleece, The Croft, Fiddlers, The Bierkeller and the Louisiana, Gafftape have gone on to play venues as distant as Club 2K in Penzance, the legendary TJ's in Newport and The Talbot in Stoke-on-Trent, as well as performing at an open air event in Dean Lane Skatepark in Bristol and the Godless Festival.
Gafftape have matured into a live act not to be missed and have made guest appearances with high profile bands such as Hed (pe), California's rockingest all girl band Broadzilla, cult emo band Sensefield, the UK's up and coming Razorwire and Murder One and the UK's number 1 Iron Maiden Tribute band Ironically Maiden.
A debut album is in the pipeline so watch this space!
