    BIOGRAFÍA
    Gala Knörr es una joven artista de origen vasco que vive a unicornio entre España y Francia. Después de cuatro años estudiando Bellas Artes en la Parsons School of Design, su primera exposición en solitario "TURN ON TUNE IN", inspirada en el estilo de vida de las generaciones beatnik y hippie abrió sus puertas en Abril 2007. Su obra en palabras del fundador de K Records e icono underground de la música americana Calvin Johnson "pueden ser vistas como ilustraciones que acompañan a una vida fuera de la burocracia, o como un garabato de una juventud alocada e intoxicada por los aires primaverales". Actualmente Knörr exhibe su trabajo en Europa y Estados Unidos, y escribe y colabora con diferentes publicaciones relacionadas con el arte. Buscando inspiración en sus viajes, y en la cultura indie, también se le puede ver pinchando sets como su alter ego DJ Gala Bohemia, junto al colectivo artístico musical Bohemian Inc. que fundó en 2005 con DJ Sylvania.

    BIOGRAPHY
    Gala Knörr is a young artist of Basque origin that lives in between Marbella and Paris on her unicorn. After four years of studying Fine Arts in Parsons School of Design, her first solo art show “TURN ON TUNE IN”, inspired by the lifestyles of the beatnik and hippie generations opened its doors last year. Her work in the words of K Records founder and underground icon of american music Calvin Johnson are “ illustrations to accompany a life on the outside of bureaucracy, others as the doodles of a mad youth intoxicated by Spring”. Nowadays Knörr exhibits her work in Europe and the United States, and writes and colaborates with various publications related to art. Looking for inspiration in her trips, and in indie culture, it is also easy to catch her play music sets as her alter ego DJ Gala Bohemia, with her artistic and musical collective Bohemian Inc., that she founded in 2005 with DJ Sylvania.

PROPÓSITO ARTÍSTICO
La juventud de ahora (de la cual soy parte) tiene la esperanza de dejar huella en la historia pero vive en un sistema mundial extremadamente controlado. Quise materializar este sentimiento de nostalgia por la generación de los años sesenta que marcó una época liberadora sobre todo en los EEUU o Francia, a través de la metáfora de una “mixtape” o cassette. Hoy día son objetos que cuando los recibimos los conservamos con cariño, pero a la vez son una tecnología obsoleta. Cada obra para mi representa una canción o melodía, contribuyendo a crear un sentimiento de melancolía rememorando el pasado, pero aprendiendo que tenemos que evolucionar aun sin conocer hacia donde o que.

STATEMENT
The current youth (which I am part of of) has the hope to make a change in history but they live in an extremely controlled world system. I wanted to materialize this feeling of nostalgia for the generation of the sixties, through the metaphor of a music mixtape, which nowadays are objects that we cherish when given to us, yet are totally obsolete. Each work represents one song, contributing to create a sense of melancholy in the rememberance of the past, but also teaching us the need to evolve onto something even if unknown to us.
