Influences
Tasty licks. Fat grooves. Kurt Vonnegut. Stanley Kubrick.
Four Normanites (Mack Burke, Kiel Dehnert, Scott Strandberg, Zane Russell) started jamming in 2006 and after many loud nights formed a band. They called themselves Galapagos after the Kurt Vonnegut novel of the same name. After almost a year of musical deliberation, and the addition of keyboardist Adam McFarlane, Galapagos made their live debut at the Waka Winter Classic in January 2007. The band's music is best described as genre-straddling jamminess, as they dabble in rock, blues, funk, jazz, country, bluegrass, trance, and more.
Galapagos will be releasing their debut studio album, Electric Shaman, in June 2008. The album was recorded/mixed by Travis Linville at DirtyBird Studios near Norman, OK and mastered by Garrett Haines at Treelady Studios in Turtle Creek, PA. All of Galapagos' live recordings are engineered/mixed by Erik Allen of Daydream Recording.

I went to the museum of natural science yesterday and they had all these gigantic "Galapagos in 3D" posters...made me think of you guys, and think of plotting to steal one :) Hope you guys are all doing well!
Nice tunes! I really like your music. I hope to see you live if you're ever in the Fayetteville area. I'd love it if you stopped by my page and gave my music a listen. Thanks for spreading good vibes with your music. Thanks for the add.
