Born in 1994, ZDB has made a place for itself as a promoter of a series of different activities that have in common the assertion of emerging art in face of institutionalized proposals. As a production and promotion structure for emerging art, ZDB functions as a space for confronting proposals that deal with contemporary aesthetics and technologies.
During its existence, ZDB has occupied abandoned buildings in the Lisbon city centre, promoting their recuperation. At the moment, ZDB occupies two spaces in Bairro Alto. The main one, where the exhibition and concert rooms are located, is on temporarily loan by the state and another one, the NEGÓCIO space for performing arts, is rented.
Every year ZDB presents more then 180 concerts, 10 different exhibitions and a sort of different performances in all areas. We can divide the work of ZDB in the following areas.
ZDB Gallery: Production and presentation of visual art and new artistic languages exhibitions on a regular basis.
ZDB Müzique: Experimental, improvised, electronic music concerts on a regular basis. A privileged space for the confrontation and fruition of new musical landscapes.
NEGÓCIO: Initiated in June 2005 it’s dedicated to support the production and promotion of performing arts. A space for experimentation and developing of works that have a less conventional setting when it comes to the public, contrary to more traditional theatres.
ZDB Educational Service: Organizes programs for audiences of all ages. Guided tours for school groups and specialized audience, as well as creative projects for youths with all levels of familiarity with contemporary art.
ZDB Documentation Centre: Comprise comprehensive research publications devoted to modern and contemporary art, including compilation of national and international audio-visual documents from the 90's carried out by the different projects at ZDB. Also maintains catalogues, books, CDs, DVDs and videos from other centres devoted to contemporary art.
ZDB Collective: A network of interchanging, developing interventions based on co-authorship. This self-replicating network is open to all the different sensibilities that are part of it. Motivations range from civic awareness to the price of a Portuguese table wine.

obrigado pelo add, aproveito igualmente para elogiar e incentivar o vosso projecto, visto ser muito importante em portugal existir salas de concertos para bandas mais alternativas, cujo o público alvo minoritário no qual me incluo, de outra forma não teria oportunidade de escutar ao vivo. Força com os concertos e claro continuem a presentear-nos com o Legendary Tigerman no dia 25 de Dezembro... ;) Até os próximos concertos!!!
