The concept for Darkness Visible came about through a series of conversations
between artists Breda Lynch and Ann Mulrooney about the areas where their separate research interests
intersect. It was felt that the Gothic and its relation to ornament was
an area that has not been looked at here in Ireland - despite it being
spiritual home to Gothic Romanticism -and the artists were also interested in
connecting the nine different artists together, in order to contribute to the current discourse surrounding the Irish Gothic, investigations into ideas surrounding ornament as something that conceals rather than enhances.
The nine artists bring together different processes and ways of seeing, in order to deliver an exhibition that is beautiful, dark, exquisitely-crafted and engaging.

A highly recommended movie for activism / radical revolution is ‘Zeitgeist Addendum’ and you can view it at http://www. zeitgeistmovie. com/ Zeitgeist means "the spirit of the times" but maybe it can also mean time for a change. There are two movies – please pass them on.
