Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama; I only got down with that True School Hip Hop. I grew up on Lord Finesse, DITC, UTFO, Def Squad, Black Moon, Cypress Hill, CMW, A Tribe Called Quest, Mantronix, early LL (Walking With A Panther, Radio), Big Daddy Kane, etc... Nowadays I'm still more into the underground Hip Hop scene. I have been doing this music production/recording thing off and on (did the college thing also) for about 10+ years, now I'm in South Carolina doin my thizzle. Yep... I'm the one you heard about...

I was always into music from an early age. I used to fool around with various cheesy drum machines thru middle and high school. I even had the classic Casio SK-1 (that little keyboard changed the game!). Yes, I rapped also. It wasn't until I went to school at Howard University that I realized I may have a little talent with the words and the beats. My crew from New York made a huge impact on my life in terms of musical growth. My roommate was a DJ and taught me how to blend and scratch. Another friend of mine from L.I. used to always be interested in where samples would come from. That is how I got hooked on diggin in the dusty $1.00 record crates. (For a good while, I was doing less diggin and using more synths, BUT, I'm back diggin in them crates hard now though.) My homie Dan (who needs to holla at his boy!) from Delaware was like my Ace. We were always freestyling around the yard and writing songs. Anyway, after I moved down south (S. C.) I decided that making beats was going to be my thing and I began rapping less and less.

My first piece of equipment was a Roland MS-1. That is what I used to make my first beats after making pause loop beats for the longest time as a youngin... My homie Jimmy taught me how to work an ASR-10 and I was hooked. I purchased an Ensoniq EPS 16+ (rackmount) and the rest is history. My dudes FatRat and Misfit (UGRR) influenced my style tremendously during the time that I was making beats with the EPS 16+. I wish I still had that machine just because it is a classic that many producers still use to this day. I went to grad school in Mobile and bought a Korg Triton with my first student loan refund check! Guess what??? I only had that machine for about three months, because I got turned on to these computers and I started using Fruity Loops. That was in 2003. I was working with some lyrical beasts at the time that went by the name of the Royal Assassins (they are now in the A doing their thing). My dude Ryan also schooled me to a lot of shit about the music game. To me, he will always be a hood/production legend down in Mobile. I still use Fruity Loops every now and then and I've banged some joints out with Reason (and like it a lot too), but the software just doesn't do it for me any more...

UPDATE: I'm on the 2000xl now. (I know, i know... what took so long), so add that to the arsenal of tools... Plus the Korg Karma got a dude feelin unstoppable.

Hit me up for more info on the beats. I'm interested in working with emcees, vocalists, etc... It does not matter what style of music you are into. We can work something out.
