Garage Pressure was started in January 1999 by Farj & Paul Fraser.
Today we are a dynamic part of a new wave of music that not only crosses genres but is rated by music lovers from various backgrounds such as drum & bass, dub, breaks, garage, house, broken beat and electro. With an uncompromising dedication to new music, we are pushing sounds that spawned from our origins, Dubstep, Grime and everything in between.
Over the years we have DJed at some of the biggest clubs in Australia and New Zealand as well as supported leading DJs & Producers including Zed Bias (2002 & 2008),Oris Jay (2002), Kode9 (2003 & 2006), Lombardo (2004 & 2005), Landslide (2005), Quiet Storm (2006), Skream (2006), Mala/Digital Mystikz (2007) Benga (2007), Pinch (2007) Caspa (2007), Vex'd (2007), DJ Distance (2008), DJ NType (2008), Loefah (2008), Cotti (2008), Tes La Rok (2008), Joker (2008) and Seven (2009).
In 2002, our club night DarkSyde (Dark Sydney) was the first Breakstep & Dubstep night in Australia. In 2006 we launched Aquarium, featuring Kode9. In 2005, we mixed a compilation called Forefront, featuring all Australian broken beat artists. In 2008 we created Australia's first dubstep record label Aquatic Lab Records .
We have been involved with community radio for over a decade. We currently hold a residency at Fbi94.5FM www.fbiradio.com on Friday nights 9-11pm - broadcasting to a conservatively estimated Sydney audience of 60,000 + many more online.
Our website www.garagepressure.com is one of the longest running sites dedicated to the scene. We have featured dubplates and new music streams over the past 8 years. Many of the tracks featured in our streaming downloads have gone onto become big hits once released. Today we continue to podcast 2 hours of fresh new music each week with the support of upcoming and established artists and labels.
Garage Pressure was the incubator for Moving Ninja www.movingninja.com, Australian producer Paul Jabanasam who has been turning heads in the uk with his own brand of atmospheric Dubstep. Moving Ninja has become a recognised name with releases on Vertical Sound and the seminal Bristol label Tectonic.
