As a kid, I played the trumpet in a marching band, somewhere near Clermont-Ferrand, France. Once when I was 12, I turned on the radio and heard "Where is my mind?" by you-know-who. It amazed me. Since then I have been dreaming my own private North America, listening to all the local radio indie rock shows I could. I sold my trumpet to get a drum kit that sounded more like big bongos and started playing in rock bands, "Steve Shelley style" (Sonic Youth), my drum hero at that time...
Although a drum kit is a very melodic instrument, I got me a cheap guitar, because I wanted to play some of my favorite songs and maybe start writing some of my own...
At 16, second kick in the heart, "Angeles" by Elliott Smith. Didn't recover either and never got used to his absence.
So, why "garciaphone"? You know what? I don't really know. Except the fact that it sounded good to me and that it was a strange word that didn't belong to one language particularly.
When we are in the same country (France or the US), I play drums with Charles Theodore (a master songwriter from NYC). I also play drums with parisian songwriter Gaspard Royant.

2 choses que j'ai oubliées: Blankets c'est juste une fois encore (oh, ce n'est même pas lassant) génial. Tu connais la BD du même nom? Non? Et bien rue-toi chez ton libraire préféré. Et enfin, tu joues avec Gaspard Royant la semaine prochaine?
découvertes du printemps de Bourges, et surtout 1ère partie de Fredo Viola, je dis juste: chapeau bas l'artiste... On devrait se voir à l'une ou l'autre ou même à ces 2 soirées.
bon j'avoue : un seul défaut ce "everyone goes home in october" : il manque "blankets" =P ... superbe chanson ... ça a l'air, d'ailleurs, d'être une habitude les très chouettes chansons par ici =)

Petit rappel du concept : pour ces rendez-vous trimestriels, Pollyanna et Reza ouvrent la soirée en acoustique avec 3 morceaux chacun, avant le laisser la place à un invité venu d'ailleurs pour un full-show unique.
Pour cette 5e édition, nous avons la joie d'accueillir V.O. , projet de Boris Gromberger, guitariste de Françoiz Breut, batteur de Soy un Caballo et fer de lance de l'excellent label belge Matamore.
Le Vieux Léon, c'est sympa, bien situé (métro Etienne Marcel, rue de la Grande Truanderie), l'entrée est gratuite et c'est toujours entre 20h30 et 22h00.
