GARDEN WALL BIO
Garden Wall were born in the end of the eighties and, through the usual line-up changes, they realised their first demo-tape, simply entitled “Garden Wall” in 1992.
The following year the german producer Peter Wustmann, well-impressed by the listening of the above mentioned tape, decided to offer Garden Wall the chance of signing for his independent label WMMS.
Thus in May of 1993 Garden Wall were in Stuttgart to record their debut Cd entitled “Principium”, a work that meets the interest and a strong approval by the specialised press; exactly one year after Garden Wall were again in the same studio to give the story a continuation with “Path of Dreams”, a work that radicalizes in some way the positions conquered by the first album and permits Garden Wall to make a name for themselves abroad too.
In 1995 the well-known drummer Camillo Colleluori joins the band and also thanks to his “parossistic drumming” Garden Wall turn to a definetely more aggressive sound, at this point of their story the rythmic-harmonical research is extremely advanced, the very heavy sounding is yet very experimental as “The Seduction of Madness”, third opera of the band, clearly shows.
1997 sees the releasing of what still is the last official chapter of the band entitled “Chimica”, a record that gains a very high success and response amidst the journalists and critics and the band begins to perform live in a more continuous way.
Recently (2000), after the troubles with the label that had produced the four works we briefly talked about, Garden Wall had realized a self-produced demo-Cd entitled “Aliena(c)tion”, a sort of “manifesto” of their current sound based on the fusion of highly eterogeneous elements melted together inside an extremely rageous and heavy rock.
In 2001 Garden Wall released their fifth full-lenght Cd which is entitled “Forget the Colours” and is produced and released by the italian indie Mellow records. The style of the band moved to a more eterogeneous melting-pot of styles including extreme metal, typical progressive solutions, classic contemporary suggestions and spices of ethnic-jazz rock.
March 2005 saw the releasing of the sixth one (a sort of chapter 2 of some kind of trilogy began with the previous “Forget the Colours”): the album is entitled “Towards the Silence”, musically they earned in linearity without losing a single gram of power and experimental approach.
A seventh album, called “Aliena(c)tion”, got out on July 2008. It contains three unreleased tracks and some live material from the theatral-metal years.
In the meanwhile the band’s working on the chapter 3 of the trilogy…the title will be “Assurdo” and it will feature clean but strange guitar sounds, massive amounts of electronics and a lot of acoustic instruments (such as violin, clarinet, vibraphone, flute and so on…).......................
The current line-up is: Alessandro Seravalle (heart-felt emissions, electronics, keyboards, poems & guitars), Ivan Moni Bidin (drums), Raffaello Indri (lead and various guitars), Gianpietro Seravalle (electropercussions), William Toson (fretted and fretless bass guitars)

Alessandro Seravalle fonda i Garden Wall sul finire degli anni ottanta e, attraverso i soliti innumerevoli cambi di formazione, la band giunge alla pubblicazione del primo demo-tape, intitolato semplicemente "Garden Wall", nel 1992.
L'anno seguente il produttore tedesco Peter Wustmann, favorevolmente impressionato dall'ascolto del succitato nastro, decide di metterli sotto contratto per la sua indie WMMS.
Nel maggio del 1993 i Garden Wall sono dunque a Stoccarda ad incidere il loro debutto discografico "Principium", un lavoro che suscita l'interesse e la forte approvazione della stampa specializzata; esattamente un anno più tardi i Garden Wall replicano con "Path of Dreams", un album che radicalizza le posizioni conquistate con l'opera prima e permette ai Garden Wall di farsi conoscere anche all'estero (tanto che il loro sito ufficiale è gestito da Vitaly Menshikov, un loro fan dell’Uzbekistan!).
Nel 1995 entra nella band Camillo Colleluori, batterista piuttosto noto tra gli addetti ai lavori e grazie anche al suo "drumming parossistico" il sound dei GW si sposta verso sonorità decisamente più aggressive, ormai la ricerca ritmico-armonica del gruppo è estremamente avanzata, le sonorità pur dure sono molto sperimentali come dimostra "The Seduction of Madness", terza prova discografica della band.
Nel 1997 esce "Chimica", disco che riscuote un successo di critica senza precedenti e la band comincia a suonare dal vivo in modo più continuo.
Nel 2000, dopo i dissapori nati con l'etichetta produttrice di tutti i quattro lavori, i Garden Wall hanno realizzato un demo-Cd autoprodotto intitolato "Aliena(c)tion", sorta di manifesto del loro sound basato sulla fusione di elementi molto eterogenei all'interno di un rock notevolmente duro e rabbioso.
E’ del 2001 l’accasamento presso l’indie italiana Mellow records che ha portato la band alla registrazione del loro quinto full-lenght Cd intitolato “Forget the Colours”.
L’album in questione segna un ulteriore arricchimento del loro sound, sospeso tra partiture metalliche, suggestioni contemporanee, aperture romantiche e sprazzi di etno-jazz-rock.
Il sesto lavoro della band, intitolato “Towards the Silence”, è stato registrato nell’agosto del 2003 ma è stato pubblicato all’inizio del 2005.
Stilisticamente si inserisce sul solco del precedente (costituisce il secondo capitolo di un’ideale trilogia inaugurata col il precedente lavoro) pur presentando strutture compositive maggiormente “lineari”. La stessa casa discografica ha gpubblicato un Cd, sotto il titolo “Aliena(c)tion”, nel Luglio del 2008 contenente i tre brani inediti del 2000 e del materiale dal vivo risalente al periodo più noise-teatral-metal.
All’inizio dello stesso anno cominciano le registrazioni del terzo capitolo dell’ideale trilogia iniziatasi con “Forget the Colours”. Il disco in questione, intitolato “Assurdo”, segna una nuova svolta nel sound del gruppo…raggelanti folate elettroniche si sovrappongono a romantici arpeggi chitarristici, teatralità, armonie bizzarre e elementi più tipicamente rock contribuiscono a chiudere il cerchio…
