GARDNER MUSIC is a Nashville-based production company specializing in growing songs and artists through the process of making recordings. We help artists overcome typical barriers such as writer’s block ("I have nothing to say"), vocal limitations ("My break is killing me! Why can’t I sing higher without flipping into falsetto?"), and even self-esteem issues ("Why would anyone care about what I have to say anyway?"). We grow music in all styles, genres, and cultures, empowering artists to take charge of their own careers without waiting for someone else to "make" things happen for them.
GARDNER MUSIC is strongly committed to the belief that every artist has something unique and valuable to say . . . something that the world NEEDS to hear! We are passionate about growing recordings from our ARTISTS’ hearts, instead of someone else’s. This makes each project uniquely suited to YOU, the artist. We believe so strongly in this that we do what’s best for the you, even when it means making sacrifices.

WHAT KIND OF ARTISTS DO WE WORK WITH?
Any talented music creators who are serious about their music CAREERS are candidates for production and development. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or just starting out, if you’re interested in growing artistically, we want to hear from you. Our clients are independent singers and bands who want to take their music careers to the next level. Studies show that only 5% of artists signed to a record label are still signed 12 months later. THAT MEANS 95% OF LABEL ARTISTS WON’T BE SIGNED NEXT YEAR! So whether or not you’re on a label now, chances are you’ll be an indie soon, and THAT’S GOOD NEWS! Why? Because it means you get to keep 100% of your profits! Indie artists can earn more money selling 3500 CD’s out of their trunk than many major label artists do off of a platinum record (that’s 1,000,000 copies)! That alone should be enough to make anyone want to be indie!
At GARDNER MUSIC , we teach you how to maximize career . . . instead of relying on someone else to realize YOUR vision, with YOUR passion, and make YOUR dreams come true. Who else could know about you better than you? We’ll teach you how to sing flexibly and easily, what it means to make a radio-ready song, and how you can eliminate those pesky artist insecurities for GOOD! We’ll help you put together a plan for your music business that will earn BACK the money you spent in the studio . . . and more! All this in the context of world-class recording in Nashville’s rich musical heritage. When all is said and done, you’ll have a product you can REALLY be proud of. Why? Because you put your heart and soul into expressing what was on YOUR heart, instead of making something that someone else THINKS people want to hear.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
GARDNER MUSIC offers these unique services to a select few by invitation only. We can’t work with everyone so we pick the artists we really want to work with. Recording Coaching is $100 an hour and includes most other services listed. Special project rates are available for certain individuals. Influences
Anyone who advocates a passion for euphony, a sincere desire to cultivate the creative process...an open mind to embrace the universal and harmonious language of music, regardless of which culture it originated from.... From Prokofiev to P!nk, The Beatles to The Blackeyed Peas, Ray Charles to Radiohead, Nelly to Norah Jones...A full course can consist of Gentle Giant for breakfast, Britney Spears for lunch, Sting for dinner and Avril Lavigne right before bedtime...a diverse smorgasborg every day. Indeed, a fervour that's nourished by the power of diversity and the strength in expressing emotion.

Trained in classical music, jazz, and commercial music at the University of Miami and the Wheaton Conservatory of Music, GARDNER MUSIC Founder James Gardner has studied the art of music and production from the entire musical spectrum. While at Embassy Music Nashville, James expanded his career to include A&R, Production Coordination, Artist Management & Development, song placements and the headaches that go along with them. Working with artists, producers, and writers worldwide, he began to notice patterns that hindered internal growth for writers as well as artists. This led him to found Gardner Music, a Nashville-based artist development company dedicated to developing balanced recording artists.
GARDNER MUSIC provides years experience working with some of the music industry’s finest talent . . . writers, artists, musicians, and producers . . . both on stage and in the studio. Nicole C. Mullen, Al Kapone, Michael W. Smith and the Grammy association are just a few of the artists and companies they have been privileged to work with. But more important than all this is the GARDNER MUSIC growth process. Unlike most production studios, the focus at GARDNER MUSIC in on process more than product . GARDNER MUSIC goes with you through the struggles every artist goes through and specializes in overcoming difficulties. If you feel like you are stuck or not going anywhere, GARDNER MUSIC may be just the place for you.
