So what do I do.....I'm a comedian, my words are my medium, writing is
tedium when it's laughs your feedin them, feeling like a wanker when you
christian a joke "a banker", so it's at the end of your set and one night it fails
to even get, a laugh, you feel daft, like the ground should swallow you whole,
consuming your soul, with nowere left to go, this makes it sound cold and
empty, even hollow, you swallow your pride, it's still there inside
but......when it works..... its amazing, your confidence blazing a trail, on a
night where you can't fail, try as you might, theres no fight, when your that
good that it's flowing, your wit alone is blowling, their minds, the pattern of
your lines, the rhythm and the meter, the call-back and repeater, the tag on
the end that they'll tell their friends, it'll send them home happy and content,
for you it's a vent, a place to repent a chance to purge the serious or absurd,
to get it all heard and off of your chest, stop you getting obsessed or
depressed, you've confessed at your comedy altar, you didn't falter, you
raised the roof, shared some truth, released some stress, and, at the end
took a breath, to steady your stride towards the next gig, next cig, next
drink, new joke....lets think.....
