NEW FILM SHOWREEL ONLINE! http://garethlockrane.com/gareth-film-score-showreels.html I play flute, alto and bass flutes and piccolo and have been based in London since the mid-90's, when i moved down from Stoke on Trent to do the BMus jazz course at London's Royal Academy of Music,(alongside The Fishwick brothers,Tom Cawley, Osian Roberts and Henry Collins). I'm currently focusing on three groups of my own,the septet, big band and my hammond band "Gareth Lockrane's Grooveyard" - see new myspace page below. I completed my MA in film composing at the National Film&Television School in 2008;lots of the short films i've been involved in have gone on to appear and win awards at numerous film festivals and there's now a film showreel section on my website - http://garethlockrane.com/gareth-film-score-showreels.html. I've been very fortunate recently to have known and worked closely with the late great Bheki Mseleku in his last group from 2005-2008. I've also performed/recorded in the last few years with Jack DeJohnette, Incognito,The James Taylor Quartet, Corrine Bailey Rae, Billy Buckley's Wagon Train, Sirius B, Heritage Orchestra, Tom Richards Jazz Orchestra,Hans Koller and bands led by Phil Donkin, Kate Williams,Paul Booth,Dan Stern, Jon Opstad, Nia Lynn, Georgia Mancio, Natalie Williams and Gwilym Simcock. I participated in the Lake Placid jazz course a few years back and had tuition from jazz heroes Joe Lovano,Dick Oatts and Jim McNeely,i was a finalist in the Young Jazz Musician of the Year ages ago in 2000 and I've led the group Grooveyard with saxophonist Alex Garnett since 2002, which won Best European Jazz Group in 2003 in the Granada Jazz Festival. I recently made into the Rising Star on Flute Category in 2008's Downbeat Critics Poll. - REVIEWS - “Lockrane’s flute work is exceptional, combining a relaxed fluidity with an acute adventurousness on the other.” JAZZWISE "the formidable Lockrane...a stunning display of sharp-accented runs, earthy whoops and constantly refreshed melodic ideas" JOHN FORDHAM,THE GUARDIAN "Lockrane is an exceptional soloist with an improvisatory confidence that's quite startling” PETER VACHER, JAZZWISE "...the flute, an instrument which has still not achieved a firm foothold in jazz. If the brilliant playing of Gareth Lockrane is anything to go by, that state of affairs may change...” DAVE GELLY, THE OBSERVER “..Flute phenomenon!...” JACK MASSARICK, LONDON EVENING STANDARD “a new star on his instrument” JIM MULLEN Gareth Lockrane lets rip

FRIZZ RECORDS is proud to announce our second official LP release...

"Modern Mediaeval" is the third LP from singer-songwriter DAVID GARSIDE, and the first to receive the full Frizz Records vinyl treatment. It’s also clearly the most fully-realised statement of his distinctive vision so far…

It’s an easy route to locate David in the tradition of his ‘classic’ rock, pop & soul influences (McCartney, Nick Drake, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, The Beach Boys, Love, Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, Dexy’s…), but there are few songwriters working today that have absorbed these
This is ’singer-songwriter’ music in the sense that it’s focus is on song-craft and the unfolding of the lyrical vision of a single individual, but if so then it’s definitely at the sophisticated end of the scale (’progressive’ if that term isn’t too loaded…), filed alongside ‘Bryter Layter’, ‘The Hissing Of Summer Lawns’, ‘Pretzel Logic’ or ‘Surf’s Up’...another FRIZZ RECORDS instant classic!
"Modern Mediaeval" can be downloaded now from the iTunes Store (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=319307665&s=143444)

The album is also available on heavyweight vinyl LP in a sumptuous gatefold sleeve, or on Digipack CD from the FRIZZ online shop (http://www.frizzrecords.com/?page_id=5&view_type=default&product_search=modern+mediaeval&search=Search) ...& all good retailers

FRIZZ RECORDS is proud to announce our first official LP release...

"It's Not The Wand, It's The Magic" is the debut release from AUGUST, the London based band centred around the songwriting partnership between vocalist VEDINA MOSE and multi-instrumentalist / producer RAPHAEL MANN (MR HUDSON / JOY JOSEPH / ART TERRY), with master drummer CLEAN CUT MARK and clarinetist / vocalist MAREE CHOIE completing the core line-up, and a supporting cast including ART TERRY (keyboards), SHOHEI KAWAMOTO (AKA Japanese producer Baraki, Bass clarinet, soprano sax and flute), and KAI HOFFMAN (French horn)

Always an act that juggled a diverse set of influences, the album has been compared to artists as diverse as KATE BUSH, PRINCE, DE LA SOUL, SLY STONE, MADLIB, SERGE GAINSBOURG and THE DELFONICS, for its concoction of wild experimentation and traditional song craft, organic production and futuristic electronic touches, funk bass & drums and jazz & orchestral references, infectious melodies and lyrical flights of fancy...with nods towards classic soul, JB funk, Studio One, 60s pop, psychedelia, left field hip hop, new wave, doo wop, tropicalia, high life, & avant garde jazz, without any song ever fitting squarely into any of those categories...new music, basically...and an instant classic!

"It's Not The Wand, It's The Magic" can be downloaded now from the iTunes Store (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=319268431&s=143443)

The album is also available on heavyweight vinyl LP in a sumptuous gatefold sleeve, or on Digipack CD from the FRIZZ online shop (http://www.frizzrecords.com/?page_id=5&category=20) & all good retailers

“…an album fizzing with fresh ideas and delights, an exhilarating musical journey .. with brilliantly original writing and inspired playing…” -- Helen Mayhew

"At last a follow up to Janette Mason's sparkling debut as leader. Alien Left Hand ....was well worth the wait…” Production **** Performance**** -- BBC Music Magazine

"Every track from the rhythmic ‘NY Cab Ride’ and restless ‘4 Wheel Drive’ to the brooding ‘Mae’s Song’ has a terrific hook but it’s the way Mason switches tempo and moods that makes ALH great fun." -- Diva Magazine
