Inspired by the Greek myth, PSYCHE follows the quest of the wrathful Aphrodite to ruin Psyche, a mortal rumored to be more beautiful than the goddess herself. As with Fisher's other works, PSYCHE explores the consonances and clashes between Eastern and Western musical traditions. PSYCHE features music by Garrett Fisher, libretto by Thom Schramm, direction/dramaturgy by Ken Cerniglia, choreography/co-direction by Christy Fisher, and puppets/costumes by Tori Ellison. Performers include Linda Strandberg (Aphrodite), Ben Black (Eros), Vanessa De Wolf (the Sister), Gary Zinter (the King), Ines Andrade, Mary Cutrera, and Archana Kumar (the Chorus), Dean Moore and Stan Shikuma (Percussion), Esther Sugai (Indian harmonium), Steven Cresswell (Viola), and Greg Bagley (Bass). Ahoy Garrett Fisher Ensemble from 10-D PJ. Thanks for cyber befriending these salty dogs. Your engaging music vibrates our boat and fires up our synapses. It compels us to look out to sea and realise that you may need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star.

Hi Garrett, nice to meet you again! Your music sounds beautiful (it's just annoying that it doesn't still play while you're writing a message!). If i'm in town in June i'll come hear you.

Dear Garrett
Greetings from Taipei, Taiwan!
I've been arranging samba beats to traditional taiwanese music, and working with some brazilian drummers teaching 25 aboriginal children here. Quite an amazing project!
Hope to hear you live when I get back to Seattle.
all the best
