Gary's Interests
General
My kids are my primary interest, followed pretty closely by my family as a whole.
I also love to cook and bake (isn't my wife lucky?).
I also have a vested interest in role-playing games, both creating and playing them. Writing is a wonderful outlet, even if it is often couched in game mechanics.
Music
An eclectic mix of industrial, techno, metal, soundtracks, classic rock, and whatever else takes my fancy.
Oh, and GWAR. :-)
Movies
Too many to name, really. My cinematic interests tend to involve science fiction (Star Wars, Alien), horror (zombie flicks), and fantasy (Lord of the Rings, Krull), as well as gritty war and military-themed films (Saving Private Ryan, Flags of Our Fathers).
Television
I don't watch a lot of television. What we do watch is mostly what the kids want to watch. In Stephen's case, this includes endless re-runs of "How It's Made."
Books
Neuromancer (and the rest of the "Sprawl" trilogy), Lord of the Rings (as well as The Hobbit), the Thieves' World anthologies, the books of Dan Abnett (esp. the Eisenhorn novels and the Ravenor books).
Honestly, I don't read enough. It's that problem with not having enough time.
Heroes
That's a tough one. I have a lot of people I respect, but I can't say that I have many heroes.
About me: I'm a freelance writer and game designer on nights and weekends; by day, I'm a content developer for EA Mythic. When I'm not pounding keys in an attempt to meet my latest deadline(s), I'm learning (the hard way) how best to be a good father.
Who I'd like to meet:
William Gibson.
Outside of that long-term goal, there are plenty of folks I've "met" online that I'd love to meet in realspace. The list is pretty long.
As far as meeting the girl of my dreams, I'm fortunate enough to have met her already (and I only waited nine years to marry her after that).
Hey Gary, Hope the new job kicks ass. The old crew here misses you & we are hoping to see "the return of the dungeon master" before the end of the year. Say hi to Amy for me. and yesssssss.... Gwar Rules!
Sorry, I've had kind of an exhausting weekend but that's no excuse for me making such a silly spelling error. "Thieves' World." Apostrophe after the s, after.
I've been looking real hard at the Thieve's World players guide, but it's so hard to talk my group into devoting time to a different setting. :( I think I'll pick it up now, anyway. :)
