JAZZTIMES (March 2008)
"Featuring a trio, quartet and septet, organist Gary Brunotte’s fourth album shifts from cool Brazilian breezes to twitchy urban struts, and from haunting balladry to happy stomps. He switches instruments as well, supplementing his gleefully sneaky approach to the organ with gentle piano, tender accordion and some throaty vocal turns. The disc is unified by Brunotte’s sunny spirit: Whether he’s creeping stealthily across Jimmy Rowles’ “The Peacocks” or parading a children’s choir through “Mas Que Nada,” his love of the material shines through. "
ALL ABOUT JAZZ (Nov 4, 2007)
"...'Manic Moments' unravels into a comprehensive, well-conceived representation of an artist with a provocative vision. Brunotte’s music finds pleasure in its influence while pushing forward through broad-minded inspiration."
EJAZZNEWS (Dec 6, 2007) by John Gilbert
"...'Mas Que Nada' Cool solo by Brunotte at the organ and the steady unruffled beat of drummer Bill Berg drives this tune like a Rolls Royce. I'm not going to get the jewelers loop out on this one, simply put "It
grooves ... 4 STARS "
NEWS & OBSERVER (2007)
"Gary Brunotte's 'Manic Moments' (Sincopato Records) is a rather pleasant affair with Latin grooves, swing and jazz-rock dominating the rhythms... The group eschews the classic, funky, Jimmy Smith organ trio approach in favor of more subtle grooves and a more romantic mood.”

JAZZTIMES (1993)
"Brunotte is a crisp, indeed, intelligent player whose charts sizzle and yet leave plenty of space for inspired soloing... - tres musical!"
BILLBOARD (1993)
"Minneapolis-based pianist/composer Brunotte dishes up a solid contemporary jazz set (with traditional overtones) . . . .
Highlights of an enjoyable outing include the strong swinging 'A la Horace'; the hard-hitting 'Recollections'; the cool, uptempo 'Slightly Blued'; and the funky 'Caterpillar Crossing."
ALL MUSIC REVIEW (1993)
"The most interesting aspect to this fine straightahead set (which occasionally utilizes Latin rhythms) is that it gives Eric Marienthal (best-known for his association with Chick Corea 's Elektric Band) a very rare opportunity to shot off his bop chops. Altoist Marienthal is equally effective on soprano and flute during the two standards and nine Brunotte originals. Brunotte keeps up with Marienthal, his keyboard work is colorful."

RALEIGH NEWS and OBSERVER (May 2006)
"Pianist Gary Brunotte's fourth CD, recalls the delicate, harmonically spellbinding touch of the Bill Evans Trio" ...
"Brunotte's "Blue-Point Blues" is the most dapper example of jazz-rock you're likely to hear anywhere." ...
JAZZTIMES (June 2006)
"Any jazz person will appreciate Brunotte's crisp, tasteful, witty, lyrical elaborations upon his original themes" ...
"Brunotte's two versions (of 'Smile') here include a rapt, husky vocal by Kirsten Lambert and an airy samba. Brunotte understands sambas like he understands cats." ...

Hey Gary, Hope your having a great summer and having lots of fun with your new Hammond Melodion. I've been taking advantage of Roger Friedmans intermediate piano lessons. His YouTube channel is Lot2learn and he has some cool jazz piano tutorial videos. Check out this Pat Metheny track he uploaded. I'm having lots of fun learning from them at my own pace. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDsHJYFcoC4 Be sure to let me know if your planning a vacation on Long Island this summer. - Lou
Hey Gary, Funny man. You would think that I heard that Islip joke in all my years of living here, but it was a first.lol I guess you can officially add woodwinds to your music now. I Googled the Hammond 44 key Melodion and got a glimpse of it. It its sounds like a cross between harmonica and oboe, and you can bend notes with the amount and force of air blown in the mouthpiece. cool! You can now add more of Toots style into your songs. I would love to hear you play Blusette on it. Enjoy & Have lots fun with it. - Lou
Hi Gary, all of my travel of late has been to college campuses to see my sons - one is at IU, Bloomington, IN, and the other is at UNT, Denton Texas. Both are studying music. I couldn't dissuade them!
Big Hello Gary, Hope everything is going well in your neck of the woods. We are hanging locally lately and are enjoying what ever jazz comes our way. Yesterday we enjoyed the Dominic Duval Jazz Trio. No piano. Tim Sicillano was the guitarist. With times being hard on all of us nowadays days we decided to rent a turkey at the local rent-a-center for Thanksgiving. So long as we get the turkey back in 24 hours, we don't have to pay for an extra day!lol Wishing you and your family a happy and blessed Thanksgiving. Your friends Lou and Eva
Gary, hope you're doing well...I've been enjoying my break from the local "non-scene", but hoping to get some good playing situations (here) happening soon...do look forward to hooking up with you again, take care--SS
Hey Gary, I'm well aware June is National Accordion Awareness month, but I don't own a accordion, so I will just give my wife a good squeeze. I might even get a few notes out of her.lol Great new default pics. I was seeing double Gary's on my page for a while there. Stay cool as always. - Lou
Hello from New Calédonia, Thanks for the add.. Best Regards, Michel. http://www.michelbenebig.com New CD release 'Live in Melbourne' ( http://www.soundvault.com.au ) Next NC tour with RANDY JOHNSTON & MIKE JORDAN ( June 2008 )
Hey Gary, Great to hear from you. We were so looking foward to meeting you and your wife in June. Sorry to hear we won't be getting together. There's always next time. As for us, if the price of gas keeps going up,(and it will) we'll limit our vacation to the Island again. The tolls for the bridges and tunnels to get off the Island are getting way out of hand here )o; Keep up the great music and enjoy the rest of the Spring. - Lou
Hi Gary, So glad to see you have a pretty busy month ahead on your calender. Its a nice way to start the year! May 2008 bring You Good Health and continued Success in your Musical Career. and Thank you for your Friendship, - Louis
