Gary graduated Berklee college of Music in Boston, Massachusetts with a degree in Song-Writing in 1989. While attending Berklee he received several songwriting and arranging awards.
Gary moved to Nashville in 1990. He then met Mark Elliott and formed the duo Culley and Elliott. They wrote and recorded their first independent CD titled Flight of Dreams. The next two years were spent traveling and performing. They had the great honor of winning The Kerrville New Folk Award in 1993. They also won The Gum Tree Music Festival in Mississippi and The Napa Valley Music Festival in Northern California. Theyve shared the stage with Bill Danoff famed writer of Country Roads, Michael Johnson, Bluer than Blue and Peter Yarrow from Peter, Paul and Mary among others.
Gary has toured solo and with various groups from Nashville, Tennessee. Gary worked for Sony/ATV Publishing for four years in the tape room, before landing a publishing deal with Sony ATV and Edisto Sound Publishing. There he had songs recorded for a childrens project, Rainbow Dreams. Continental Divide, a Bluegrass group recorded Wheels Meet the Road on their Feel Good Day CD. Gary has also had several cuts from Canadian Artist Rick Rose as well as songs recorded by other foreign artists.
Gary currently plays guitar and sings for independent artist Billie Joyce. She has recorded Garys songs: I Surrender and What Really Matters on her debut CD Love Tones. She has recently released her second CD One Willing Heart in which she recorded two of Garys songs; Heart of a Fool and Bring him Back.
Garys new, 2006. CD project entitled, There are Times is now available.
