How 'bout a real sort of biography for once?
My name is Gary Lucas. My mum nearly called me Colin. I'm not sure if Gary suits me but it's definitely preferable over Colin. Apologies to any Colin's out there, inlcuding you Colin Creevey; you're awesome.
I'm very self aware and definitely overly conscientious. I'm hyper-sensitive to words which probably explains why I write so much. I write in a journal mostly and then random songs/poems/things. Some of them eventually do turn into fully-fledged songs, and they're what I post here. I record them myself at home so they're not of the optimum quality but I have so much fun doing them.
I'm in my second year of studying English and American Literature and am going to teach afterwards. Somewhere down the line i'd like to experiment with different forms of teaching such as music and drama therapy. A realistic and fulfilling dream at the moment would be to at some point be a music therapist and a musician of sorts on the side. I'd really like to have some time during my week to write, record and perform. Something about the process keeps me grounded.
I come from Kent, South-East England. I grew up in a small village and attended a regular high school. I'm so glad I didn't go to the grammar school. I think I either would have broken down under the pressure to get top grades or would have achieved them and become a competitive, souless bitch in the process.
I'm keen on dreaming, especially of the lucid sort. I think that by learning how to control my dreams i'll also have more control over my thoughts, which would be prefarable to my thoughts controlling me. The latter happens all too often.
My favourite colour is yellow. When it comes to physical objects like clothes, pens, mugs, wallpaper, I love yellow.
