GARY LUCAS established his reputation as a guitarist’s guitarist with 5 years spent playing with his childhood hero, the visionary vocalist/composer/bandleader CAPTAIN BEEFHEART (alias Don Van Vliet).
A world class guitar hero, a Grammy-nominated songwriter, an international recording artist with over a dozen acclaimed solo albums to date, and a soundtrack composer for film and television.
GARY LUCAS tours the world relentlessly both solo and with several different ensembles, including his longtime band GODS AND MONSTERS, whose ranks once included the late singer JEFF BUCKLEY. Gary co-wrote two of Jeff Buckley’s most famous hits, "Grace" and "Mojo Pin" when Jeff was in his group, songs which later became the title track and the first track on Jeff’s double platinum Sony album "Grace"--which MOJO recently named the 1 Modern Classic Rock Album. Gary and Jeff’s early collaborations can also be heard on the recent JEFF BUCKLEY and GARY LUCAS album "SONGS TO NO ONE", which charted internationally with worldwide sales approaching 100,000.
"Besides his longtime band Gods and Monsters, Gary is also involved
in ongoing collaborations and new recordings with DJ Cosmo (Colleen
Murphy) under the name Wild Rumpus; with sultry Indian vocalist Najma
Akhtar in an acoustic trio; and with Fast ’N’ Bulbous, the Captain
Beefheart project which Gary co-leads with Phillip Johnston.
The Dark Poets are an electronic/rock
/breakbeat outfit from the UK. Mixing dark moody warped electronic soundscapes with with rock and breakbeat ethics. They are most notable for their soundtrack work on the horror film Cradle of Fear. The Dark Poets signed to Some Bizzare Records in 2006. Their first release for Some Bizzare - "Crazy" was included on the Some Bizzare Records compilation titled Redefining the Prologue which also includes tracks by Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, Cabaret Voltaire and Einsturzende Neubauten amongst reputable others...
Originally ’The Dark Poets’ consisted of James R. Hunter and Leigh Dunning...and the line up has featured many faces in their loose collective. They were joined in 2007 by vocalist Sarah Hilliard.
The Dark Poets first rose to prominence having produced much of the soundtrack for British horror film ’Cradle of Fear’ (2001 Pragmatic pictures) Starring Dani Filth, Emily Bouffante, Eileen Daley,(Directed by Alex Chandon) - a vehicle for Cult black metal horror band ’Cradle of Filth’ (whom also feature of the soundtrack.) Now a contemporary soundtrack classic...The Dark Poets set about forging new textures and soundscapes for this - their latest album.
The Dark Poets pointman James R. Hunter was also asked by director Chandon to produce music for his (now multi award winning) short film ’Borderline’ - The film went on to tour the world with the onedotzero film festival as well as winning Chandon the coveted Saatchi award at Cannes as best ’new British director’ - The Dark Poets score to both ’Cradle of Fear’ and ’Borderline’ had them recognized and tipped as something of a serious production outfit.

"An epic soundclash between the forces of darkness and
light, when avant-guitar god Gary Lucas meets electronica wizards The
Dark Poets...As the Bard put it: "Good Things of Day begin to Droop
and Drowse, while Night's Black Agents to their Prey do Rouse" … and you are the Winner.” (anon)
This meaning “Beyond the Pale” outside the bounds of acceptable behaviour came much later, as did good manners (the absence continues,) now with the etiquette - the one aspect (don’t bend over in a chicken run) decorum , the expectations of social behaviour on the side walk of entrapment, pavement face to face as opposed to safeguarding to shield - some bizarre protection. There is no avoiding the dirt of cart wheels. For the Mothboy who’s windows are bricked up, was it just that he placed himself beyond the pale of society ? So, the only failure is to cease to try - as if he could not please himself, how was he to please his soul ? To be 'beyond the pale' was to be outside the area accepted as 'home', Step to the curb hand reached out, to only stand and deliver, with one for the road, as disgraceful as was day light robbery. Sip slow through the thru lips, as to ease the strain of execution.

" La musique d'un peuple a des prolongements subtils dans la conscience des individus et peut influencer la nature profonde d'une société. La musique et son rythme s'imposent et se substituent à l'attention, définissant un périmètre à l'intérieur duquel la conscience ainsi subjuguée peut opérer."

TRANCE MUSIC IN ANCIENT GREEK/ heraclite is a stateless project born from the meeting between the antique Greek culture and the work songs and preachings of the American blues genesis.
The singing in ancient Greek, put down on a tribal music, scans the message of the philosopher Héraclite: reality is change! These words deserve to move around the world, after Britany, Lyon, Geneva, Marseille...
