At this point two albums in particular from his Dads record collection stuck out and grabbed his soul by the throat and told him to pay attention. They were the complete Robert Johnson recordings, and Djangology, by Django Reinhardt. After immersing himself in the Blues for a decade, in his mid-twenties he started learning his arpeggios and 3 string chords, and tried his hand at the now less daunting task of playing Manouche music.

Gary has been actively involved in the music scene since he started gigging in rock bands at the age of 15. Feeling limited by the South Wales music scene at the time, he moved to Moseley in Birmingham, where an abundance of musicians flourish. Since moving to Moseley, Gary has played and written for : Carlton Curtis & the Roamers, a reggae/ soul band Gary formed with Carlton after they appeared on the same bill, the rock band Seven Spirit Deep, the multi-functional Katlama, whose vast repertoire of styles would (and does) challenge any musician, and, most recently, the Blues band Dr. Dan's Blues Remedy. As well as playing solo gigs mainly on acoustic guitars including dobros and lap-steels, he also regularly jams with local funk, jazz and latin musicians.

In his spare time Gary composes, records, performs and produces a wide variety of music at his home studio, clients include film-makers and computer games manufacturers.
