  • Bio

Ryan Racine first made a name for himself as the frontman of Ann Arbor's rockabilly outfit Lucky Haskins. Formed when he was only 15, the band burst onto the metro Detroit rockabilly scene and quickly garnered attention and a loyal fanbase. Besides introducing the genre to a whole new generation in the area, they earned spots opening for legends like Carl Perkins as well as a slot in the 1995 Detroit Music Awards..... Post Haskins, Ryan continued to wow crowds as a guitarist/sideman for Los Diablos and KC Groves. He was also a founding member of the popular Irish-punk group Mogue Doyle, which shared the stage with Flogging Molly and Shane MacGowan..... In early 2007, Ryan returned as a fronman for his new project Gas for Less. Blending his rockabily roots with the punk, pop, and bluegrass he picked up as a sideman, his new group creates a hard-edged homage to vintage honky-tonk with tinges of the California and alt-country sounds. He has assembled a crack band on veterans that include Alex Anest of Delta 88, Dave McWilliam, and Keith Meisel. .... Originals like "Born Sorry" and "Straight and Narrow" harken back to the golden age of country music, while "Best of Times", and covers of songs by Social Distortion, the Clash, and Tom Petty add a more modern set of influences that make the group more than just a retro act. This is full service "premium grade" honky-tonk. ..
