Welcome, wanderer, to the smoky and groovy den of Gaspard Oil!
First of all, it should probably be made clear that we are actually not the real Gaspard Oil. The real Gaspard Oil passed away somewhere in the early 1940s, after a long, successful and scientifically doubted career in aviation. We, as a band, merely honour this pioneer of flight through our music and through our most highly revered name.
You, however, have presumably come here for the music.
Gaspard Oil the band first popped up in the year 2007, during the 40th anniversary of the legenday Summer of Love. After throwing some wildly psychedelic, danceable and indescribably rocking elements in the musical cauldron, we finally emerged in the autumn of 2008 with a brand new debut album named A Man Called Gaspard Oil. This rare long play featuring our earliest material was recorded and mixed at Kujalandia by Mr Kuja Salmi and mastered at Chartmakers by Mr Svante Forsbäck. The album was distributed directly by the band, and some copies may still be lying around our attics for those interested in buying them. For the more virtually oriented listeners there are excerpts from the album available just a few inches above this treatise.
More, however, is still to come. After a winter of rigorous composing and rehearsing, Gaspard Oil the band descended once again to the depths of Kujalandia. This time there were plans to record a concept album centering around the love life of the mysterious pilot. Rumours circulated concerning string ensembles and Polish aphorisms turned backwards. Somebody saw a ship disappearing into the mists of the south, and western Estonia was purportedly plagued by vicious amounts of groove for a while.
In a nutshell, Gaspard Oil flew again.
The result of all this may be lurking on your doorstep in just a few weeks' time. All that we can be sure about is that it will blow your mind. Titled Women, the sophomore album of Gaspard Oil the band is coming out before you can say ”internal combustion engine”.
Watch out for takeoff, earthling.
