WHAT's THE GASTRONAUTS ITALIAN PROJECT?

We are The Gastronauts Italian Project.
In Freeshout Expressive fair fest edition 2006, we started some performances, in Italy and in Europe, in which Live Cooking, Vjing and a dj set hip hop live together. Our performance is made up by all of this.. We are two chefs in action on the stage, togheter with our dj and our vj. We all share the same passion: performing live. At the end, people eats everything...

WE always spend hours togheter with people after every show talking about food, music, wine and hip hop culture... but what matters is that people like it. Someone has called it "food-set/dj-set/vj-set", but what we like most, is to call it "The gastronauts Italian project", as we create recipes starting from Italian tradition. The differences that make it becoming a project are: construction of the dishes, ingredients we use, hip-hop interaction between music/food/video/photo, and whatever you can't find in a normal restaurant or in a normal dj-set. It tastes very good, you can trust us.

COS'E' THE GASTRONAUTS ITALIAN PROJECT?

The Gastronauts Italian Project nasce per FreeshoutFestival nel 2006.Nel festival di arti performative due cuochi romani inseriscono la loro cucina ricca di input visivi e gustativi, dedicandosi con lo stesso impegno anche alla parte musicale. Da sempre legati alla cultura hiphop, inseriscono un dj-set che viaggi in parallelo alla preparazione dei loro piatti. Tutto questo diventa uno spettacolo, completato da una parte di vjing proiettata sulle pareti. Musica, cucina, video e foto hanno la stessa importanza e concorrono inparte uguale al raggiungimento di un solo scopo: la creazione di un nuovo tipo di intrattenimento live. I piatti non vengono mai provati prima, per questo ogni spettacolo ne ha di nuovi. Ne sono la prova i disegni accurati di ogni piatto che i Gastronauts portano sempre con loro sul palco. Dal Freeshout si aprono per i Gastronauts le porte di collaborazioni importanti, di festival italiani e di date in Francia e Germania. L'ultima sfida dei Gastronauts, è la MICRO CENA, ovvero preparare dei capolavori espressi in formato ridotto da far gustare al ritmo di un ricercato dj set. (INFORMAZIONI in continua evoluzione)

MARCO BACCANELLI & FRANCESCA BARRECA

Cuochi di professione per tre anni, poi diventano cuochi privati. Al Freeshout EXpRESSive FAir Fest di Prato si presentano per la prima volta come GASTRONAUTS cucinando dal vivo sul palco con un dj-set di Andrea Mi(Controradio). Poi iniziano a lavorare con DONPASTA e portano nel suo spettacolo la cucina dal vivo. Lo seguono anche in Francia. Nel frattempo continuano con piccole date in locali underground e centri sociali. Entrano a far parte in pianta stabile dello spettacolo Dark Side of The Food e con questo partecipano ad alcuni festival.

La proposta di cucina privata ci permette di esprimerci in un'atmosfera a misura d'uomo, con amore verso le materie prime, e generosità di particolari. Tutto questo senza escludere una serie di excursus nelle cucine del mondo. L'offerta è molto flessibile nei gusti, nelle atmosfere, nel packaging.

We love to cook. But what we love even more than cooking is MICROCOOKING. Sometimes, in different places, we cook micro dishes, with every kind of recipes. It's something like tapas, but is not properly the same.

MICROCUCINA has been thought up by The Gastornauts Italian project and carried on ‘with 10 hands’ together with GALLERIA 291 EST and M. C. Pernarella
MICROCUCINA was born to experiment and denounce; way too often a great number of festivals aim at creating easy consents more than cultural stimulus. MICRO KITCHEN arise from the idea of a festival with a kit assembly box; a container in a physical and in a broad sense, that can be transported, assembled and disassembled in a few hours in any place and in any square with a ‘bite and escape’ view.

The festival program will be very rich and will be nothing less than the conventional programs of its eldest brothers, even though will be of short and quick usage. As per a paradox, the little space ‘wants to give space’ and visibility to artists and micro-tendencies that make the difference. The innovation of the micro festival is shown both in its contents, as well as - and mainly - in the curatorial installation choices. In fact artists participate by forwarding free of charge either a work piece, or paper/video/audio material.
The kitchen reference mark is an invitation to live its contents in a more relaxed way; we dare anybody to have never peaked in the oven, the fridge or the pantry looking for something that may satisfy and please his gastronomic culture, in this case intellectual. In four sq.m. are gathered creative workers, chefs, musicians, artists from many environments, the best performers of ‘those that make cooking an art, but also those that make art by cooking’. Microkitchen is to be fully imagined; the few and clear distinctive characterizing elements escape from a sloppy caricature of a home kitchen. A small fridge and a small stove do suggest us in which room we have popped in, and the theme on which the micro festival is centred. The smell of coffee is spread around the surrounding space waking up the visitors’ senses, and unveils the smell dimension of the micro festival. Utensils and tools become, in this ideal cube, the link for the multiple expressions of a performance and/or conceptual approach to the kitchen: various solutions will allow to consult and view the material exhibited: pictures, texts mp3, video, works, sketches, and notes. MICROCUCINA HAS BEEN presented as a preview at the Freeshout Festival.

MICROCUCINA è un progetto ideato da The Gastronauts Italian Project e lavorato 'a 10 mani' con Galleria 291 Est.
MICROCUCINA nasce per sperimentare e denunciare: sempre più spesso troppi festival tendono a creare facili consensi più che stimoli culturali.
La microcucina nasce dall’idea di un festival con la scatola di montaggio; un contenitore in senso fisico e lato che può essere trasportato, montato e smontato in poche ore, in qualsiasi luogo e in qualsiasi piazza in un’ottica “di mordi e fuggi”.
Il programma del festival sarà ricco e non avrà nulla da invidiare a quelli convenzionali dei suoi fratelli maggiori, pur essendo di breve e veloce fruizione.Come in un paradosso il piccolo spazio “vuole dare spazio” e visibilità ad artisti e microtendenze che fanno la differenza.
L’innovazione del microfestival si esplica tanto nei contenuti, quanto e sopratutto nelle scelte curatoriali e di allestimento.Gli artisti infatti vi partecipano inviando gratuitamente un opera, oppure del materiale cartaceo/video/audio.Il richiamo alla cucina è un invito a vivere i contenuti in maniera più rilassata; sfidiamo chiunque poi a non aver mai curiosato nel forno, nel frigo o nella dispensa in cerca di qualcosa in grado di soddisfare e appagare la propria curiosità gastronomica, in questo caso intellettuale. In 4 mq si riuniscono creative workers, chefs, musicisti, artisti da ogni provenienza, i migliori interpreti di “chi la cucina la fa con arte ma anche chi fa arte con la cucina”. Lo spazio dedicato alla microcucina è un cubo di 4 metri quadrati il cui protagonista indiscusso è il pavimento a scacchiera bianco e nero.
Così come un simbolo può scatenare un immaginario e un dettaglio può richiamare un mondo, da un pavimento si può estrudere una cucina.
In questo modo con un unico elemento riusciamo a comporre il tutto.La microcucina è tutta da immaginare: i pochi e chiari elementi distintivi che la caratterizzano rifuggono da una caricatura sdolcinata della cucina domestica. Un piccolo frigo e un piccolo fornello ci suggeriscono in quale stanza della casa siamo capitati e il tema sul quale è incentrato il microfestival.
Un aroma di caffè si diffonde nello spazio circostante risvegliando i sensi dei visitatori e inaugura la dimensione olfattiva del microfestival.Utensili e supporti diventano, in questo cubo ideale, il tramite per le molteplici espressioni di un approccio performativo e/o concettuale alla cucina: varie soluzioni permetteranno di consultare e vedere il materiale in rassegna: foto, testi brani mp3, video, opere, schizzi e appunti.
