About me: Gate.City.Noise was born on April 1st, 2000, and died on December 22nd 2006. That's right, died. I'm shutting the doors after 6 plus years of business. I feel that the store has run it's course and the good ole times of "The Independent Record Store" are numbered. In a world of Downloaded music, File-Sharing, Ipod's and the reality that people are simply listening to music in a new and different way, the need for a vinyl record and $15 CD is fading.
For the past few years I have struggled between wanting to keep the store open for the love of the music and the joy of making someones day with an unexpected release over the fact that I actually need to make real money to survive. The decision to close hasn't been easy as I do feel that I will be letting a lot of great customers down and for that I do apologize. I hope everyone can understand my reasons for closing. Ultimately, it is time for me to move on to something new. I don't know what that "something"' will be, so if anyone out there has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.
So the last day will be Friday December 22nd. I hope you can make here by then.

OH Andrew, I'm sad to see Gate City Noise go. What will the fair citizens of Greensboro do for their musical delights? andrew, i loved gate.city.noise since the first time i stepped inside its doors in the fall of 2001. i even remember the very first cd i bought which has been stolen since then but it remains in my heart.
