Gateway Edition
Originally named Hijinx, this young (well, mostly young) quartet began with four voices and a passion for singing. But Steve, the original tenor and now baritone, left for a 1-year tour in Korea for the Air Force. The group decided to take a year off and wait for him to return. Once he returned to the states, the group reunited with Steve who now would sing baritone. Along with Steve, Matt Parsons’ wonderful tenor voice joined to complete the ensemble. They official changed their name to Gateway Edition in November of 2006. Now in 2008 they are joined by Ben Burk who will sing Bass. Groups often tout their "collective years of experience," so if you add together Gateway Edition’s years of barbershop singing experience, it’s probably somewhere near 110 years of total barbershop singing experience.
 Tenor, MATT PARSONS
A society member since 1979. He was invited to attend a guest night by the youngest son of the "Daniel Boone Chorus" now the "Ambassadors Of Harmony" Director who was Bob Henry at the time. Jim Henry was a very proud member and was eager to bring someone new in. Matt has sung with the Ambassadors of Harmony and The Singing Buckeyes but is currently not doing any active chorus singing. He has also picked up animation as his newest hobby and is using it to promote barbershop music between lessons as he’s still learning. Being able to make anything sing barbershop is fun and a little bizarre, but hey, that’s Matt in a nutshell. He has worked for the Defense Department and is now working for Veterans Affairs in accounting.
 Lead, MIKE DOHOGNE
Began singing Barbershop around 1977 in Minot, NC. A member of his Church group talked to him and told him he would pick him up and bring him to the church to see another singing group. He went, sang, went to a show with the guest quartet "OK 4". He was hooked and has been singing ever since. He is one of the most active barbershoppers you will ever meet. He sings with the Belleville Sounds of Harmony chorus, the Florissant Valley Men of Harmony Chorus, and the Ambassadors of Harmony. He is also active with two other quartets, the Gateway Express and the Father & Son Reunion, where he sings with his son, brother-in law, and nephew. Mike is also starting a senior quartet. Mike works for the railroad in the area when he’s not actively singing.
 Bass, BENJAMIN BURK
Has been performing vocally since 2001. His first stint with the BHS came in 2005 when he started singing with the High Mountain Chordsmen of Prescott, Arizona who oddly enough performed at Ben’s parents wedding reception. Ben spent two years attending St. Cloud State University where he was part of the university men’s choir and concert choir. He is currently a member of the Belleville Sounds of Harmony. In his off time he serves in the Air Force as a Combat Correspondent on Scott Air Force Base. Aside from music, He enjoys playing and watching sports. This is his second tour with the BHS.
 Baritone, STEVE MARTIN
a barbershopper from the moment he was born. He has been actively singing for 20 years of his life (yeah he doesn’t look that old, since the age of 10. He has sung with many quartets and choruses, and is presently active with the Belleville Sounds of Harmony chorus and the 2004 International Champion and 2007 Silver Medalist chorus, the Ambassadors of Harmony. He currently serves as an active duty Staff Sergeant in the Air Force as a Computer Specialist.
Above all this, Gateway Edition’s goal is to entertain audiences through performing a wide variety of vocal styles and unique arrangements. So sit back and enjoy one of St. Louis’ newest and finest quartets, the Gateway Edition!
