Gatlin Gates comes from the small central Oklahoma town of Newcastle, but is no smalltime act. They have been gathering a great following of loyal fans that show their support everywhere they go. Gatlin Gates has been a source of great music since 2006, gaining more attention every time they play.
Having former backgrounds of rock, metal, and country they use those tones and idealizations to add to their original music, giving them an alternative country style (basically country music with a Metallica solo). Singer, Cody Abbott adds a raw country vocal concoction as well as great acoustic overlays. The rhythm section of Tyler Nichols on the bass, keeping the root notes on lock down and Eddie Bannister on the drums laying down steady grooves give the band an outstanding country-rock sound. Joel Wilson with amazing acoustic rhythm and great harmony vocals really brings out the soulfulness of each song. Tunes like “Thief in the Night” and “Cowboy” really show off the great guitar playing skills of Justin Crossno, who brings the metal to the table. When Gatlin Gates plays together its is definatley a unique sound that everybody really enjoys.
Gatlin Gates is currently working on their debut album, “Hearts and Souls”, to be out later this year. They have an ever growing touring schedule, so look for them coming to a venue near you.
